Arko'narin Starshade is a young night elf warden. She has a younger brother, Lysander.
History
World of Warcraft
She came to Felwood with one of her closest friends, Trey Lightforge, looking for signs of the Shadow Council in the area.[1] The pair was captured and imprisoned by the Council members in a cage in Shadow Hold. Trey was tortured to death before she was found by an adventurer. Using a key, Arko'narin was freed, and the adventurer escorted her out of the Shadow Hold, but had to face the corrupted Spirit of Trey Lightforge. After defeating him, Arko'narin passed by the Emerald Sanctuary and briefly stopped by her friend Jessir Moonbow, who had come to the area in search of her two friends. Arko'narin told her about the encounter with Trey's spirit. She didn't stay long and continued on to Darnassus[2] to mourn in her own private way. According to Jessir, Arko'narin would like to pretend that she was fine and strong enough to deal with these traumatic events on her own, but Trey's death and hearing the torture he was put through was going to haunt her for a long time.[3]
Dragonflight
By the time of the war against the Primalists, Arko'narin became a warden and continued to carry her friend's two-handed sword as a way of keeping him close.
After a resurgence of demonic activity in Felwood, Arko'narin sent a message to a night elf champion to meet her near the Stormwind Embassy.[4] She reported that none of the Sentinels sent by Tyrande Whisperwind have returned, so she deployed the wardens to investigate, with Maiev Shadowsong personally asking for their assistance. She and her brother Lysander made haste for Felwood and saw the area infested with demons as well as the bodies of slain sentinels. They found Maiev kneeling over a deceased Kaylessa Duskwhisper, who noted that the nearby Moonwell was corrupted and asked for their aid in cleansing it.[5] Arko'narin revealed the area is sacred to her family, being the place her parents slept when they were called to the Emerald Dream.[6] She asked the champion to clear the area of demons, and after purifying the corpses of several satyrs, they realized they were in fact corrupted sentinels.[7][8] With the outside clear, they advanced into Shadow Hold and extinguished the braziers fueling the ritual corrupting the land. As they moved through the burrow, Arko'narin recounted her captivity here, to which Maiev commented that her path was now her own and it led her to the wardens.[9] They soon found the cultist responsible for corrupting Felwood and slayed him, but not before he was able to summon Lord Hel'nurath.[10] Maiev pursued the dreadlord herself and ordered Arko'narin, Lysander, and the champion clear Shadow Hold of his minions.[11] Once they caught up to Maiev, Lysander began to channel a spell to break through Hel'nurath's shield, while Arko'narin and the champion protected him. When the spell was finished, Lysander broke through the dreadlord's defenses, allowing Maiev to deliver the killing blow. With the area crumbling around them, Lysander opened a portal outside and they escaped. Without the dreadlord's influence, the moonwell was purified. Impressed by Lysander's work, Maiev admitted she was wrong about Tyrande's decision to allow arcane users back into their ranks and offered to bestow upon him the mark of the protector.[12] They returned to Stormwind Embassy, where Maiev performed the ritual to grant Lysander the mark of protector, allowing him to begin training with the Sentinels.[13]
Arko'narin also attended the gathering in Amirdrassil when it bloomed on the Dragon Isles after Fyrakk's death. Afterward, she can be found in Arlithrien Lodge and is seen speaking with Marin Bladewing. She is happy for Lysander who joined the Sentinels.
The War Within
Following the destruction of Dalaran, she and her brother accompanied the Alliance fleet when they sailed to the Isle of Dorn to aid in the war against Xal'atath and the nerubians of Azj-Kahet.[14]

Abilities
Blowdart — Hurls a poison-coated dart at the target, putting them to sleep for 10 sec.
Fan of Blades — Instantly whirl around, releasing a spray of glaives at all targets within 30 yards.
Lightforge's Inspiration
Shadowstep — The caster steps through the shadows and reappears behind the target, striking their nerves. The victim is rooted for 3 sec.
Stealth — Sneaking around.
Cleave — Inflicts 110% of normal melee damage to an enemy and its nearest ally.
Holy Fire — Consumes an enemy in flames, burning it and inflicting additional Fire damage every 2 sec. over 8 sec.
Mortal Strike — Inflicts 200% weapon damage and leaves the target wounded, reducing the effectiveness of any healing by 50% for 5 sec.

The least I can do now is tell you what brought me here: My long time friend Trey Lightforge and I came to Jaedenar to investigate the Shadow Council when they caught us unprepared. I don't know what they've done to him, but they will pay for it.

- She was originally introduced as simply Arko'narin, her family name being added in Dragonflight.
- In the quest [55] Rescue From Jaedenar, at the point where she donned her armor, she stated "Now all I need is a golden lasso." This was in reference to her whirling action as she was putting on her armor, in a throwback to the 70s TV show "Wonder Woman".
- If you talked to her after finishing the escort quest, you would be told: "As you inspect the cage and the Night elf inside, you get an odd sense of deja vu. For some reason she does not make eye contact with you — it is almost as if you are not there to her." This was a reference to the fact that escort quest givers would re-appear after you save them, given that NPC phasing was not implemented until the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
- Her generic name is Warden Initiate.
- Arko'narin is voiced by Crystal Lee.[15]
