The WoW Variety Show is a three-event live broadcast where contestants will go head-to-head as they compete in a triathlon of unique WoW activities. Contestants will have to show off their in-game knowledge, mastery of leveling, and speed in specially-tailored segments for bragging rights over their fellow heroes and a slew of giveaway prizes.[1]
Episodes
Episode 1: Prepare for Battle
Episode 1, titled "Prepare for Battle", was hosted on 24 August 2022 and featured the following activities:
- Leveling – Contestants will have one hour to level a fresh character as high as possible with additional tasks and challenges along the way.
- Scavenger Hunt – Faced with riddles, puzzles, and plenty of things to find, teams of five will need to work together, making the most of their time as they scour the zones and complete as many scavenger tasks as possible.
- Footrace Through Azeroth – Contestants will fight without flight on a footrace through Azeroth.
Episode 2: Take Flight
Episode 2, titled "Take Flight", was hosted on 10-11 December 2022 and featured the following activities:[2]
- Leveling Race (December 10) – Race to see who gains the most experience on a fresh character
- Dragonriding Relay (December 10) – Dragonriding racing course
- Dragon Isles Expedition (December 10) – Find the fastest path possible through the leveling zones of the Dragon Isles
- Dragonflight Mythic+ Showcase (December 11) – Explore the Mythic+ Dragon Isles dungeons that will be available with Dragonflight Season 1
- Dragonfight (December 11) – 2v2 bracket with only evokers
Episode 3: You Only Live Once
Episode 3, titled "You Only Live Once", was hosted on 9 December 2023 and was the first Variety Show that had activities around the Classic Era which consists of activities in the Season of Discovery and Hardcore.[3]
- Race to Defeat Hogger – A fresh Hardcore server for the event. Players will create a level 1 character and race to level up to a point where they can finally take down Hogger. The first player to defeat the Riverpaw gnoll chieftain while not in a party will be deemed the winner. To shake things up, there will be unique in-game attributes to help (or hinder) players along the way.
- Season of Discovery: Blackfathom Deeps Race – From launch day (November 30th) to Variety Show on December 9th, players have time to gear up, collect runes and prepare to take down Aku'mai in a new race. Four teams will be invited to compete in this race.
- Mak'gora Madess – Characters from the "Race to Defeat Hogger" that did not choose to go through Blackfathom Deeps will instead be placed in a dueling match known as "Mak'gora Madess". It will feature one single-elimination bracket filled with Duels to the Death, culminating in 1 survivor. 28 players who achieve the highest level before the start of this activity will be entered into the final bracket alongside 4 celebrity contestants.
