The Valkyra are a sister organization to the Valarjar made up of shieldmaidens from the Tideskorn clan that aspire to become val'kyr. Ashildir, Queen of the Valkyra, is long dead but still leads them to this day. Their members support the vrykul priestesses and the val'kyr themselves, and are in charge of protecting the Vault of Eyir in Stormheim.

Though they are created through the techniques Odyn gleamed from Bastion's kyrians, Hyrja's ritual of ascension involves imbuing her with "storm" and "Light".

Despite their proximity to the Valarjar, they are still hostile to adventurers, and several missions are dedicated to attack them during the third invasion of the Burning Legion.

At some point, the Valkyra were under attack by Runemaster Skomjorn and his Felskorn vrykul, until they received help from the Valarjar to crush those who've betrayed Odyn.
