The true nature of the master of the dread iron dwarves is revealed.

Dungeon Journal

The being who re-activated the iron dwarves and masterminded Dreadstorm City is revealed to not infact be Tyr, the Keeper of Ulduar, but Tyr's own avatar. Originally a vessel used to carry out his will outside of the Storm Peaks, Tyr's avatar was corrupted and transformed into a separate entity entirely, a slave to the twisted machinations of Yogg-Saron. Transformed into an abomination filled with dark energy, the false Tyr overthrew his creator and became the dread master of the newly created iron dwarves. Now, his evil power overflowing, the false Tyr prepares to smite his enemies, but the true Tyr has re-appeared to aid the champions of the world.

Encounter

  • Sha ability rogue envelopingshadows.png Fury of the Dreadforge —  After 12 minutes, Dread Master Tyr will obliterate the raid with this ability.

Dread Meter

Players are given a Dread Meter for this encounter. As their Dread increases, they grow more vulnerable to Dread Master Tyr's deadliest attacks. The true Tyr will aid players in managing their Dread.

  • 25% Dread  —  Increases movement speed. Players become vulnerable to Erebos Geyser.
  • 50% Dread  —  Increases attack and spell damage, but increases chance players will miss. Players become vulnerable to Erebos Orb.
  • 75% Dread  —  Players take additional damage from all sources that cause Dread. Players become vulnerable to Erebos Eidolon.
  • 100% Dread  —  Players who reach 100% Dread gain Consumed by Dread. This debuff greatly increases their damage and healing for a short time, but when the debuff expires they are instantly killed. Tyr may aid players in avoiding this fate.

Phase One - Master of the House

Dread Master Tyr will assault the raid, while the true Tyr will support them with his abilities. Dread Master Tyr remains stationary at the far end of the chamber and can be reached in a 210' degree arc. Stepping into the flames from the Dreadforge will instantly slay the player. This phase continues until Dread Master Tyr is reduced to 30% health.

Dread Master Tyr's Abilities

  • Spell shadow unholyfrenzy.png Glare  —  Infuses the target with a beam of dark energy, dealing them damage and steadily increasing their Dread. Any player that steps into the beam interrupts the effect and becomes the Dread Master's new target. Doing this causes a high amount of Dread, but grants the player Tyr's Courage.
  • Sha spell shadow shadesofdarkness.png Wave of Dread  —  Tyr sends a wave of dark energy crashing forth from the Dreadforge, dealing shadow damage to all players and increasing their Dread. The further away from Tyr, the greater the damage. However, players gain more Dread the closer they are.
  • Spell nature drowsy.png Wrath of the Master  —  Tyr blasts dark energy at his current target if he cannot reach them, dealing them a massive burst of shadow damage and increasing shadow damage taken for a short time.
  • Spell shadow shadowpower.png Unleash Dread  —  Tyr draws forth the Dread festering in the hearts of players, causing it to erupt from within them. All players take a burst of shadow damage, gain Dread, and suffer additional effects based on their level of Dread.
    • Sha spell fire blueflamestrike.png Erebos Geyser —  Tyr causes the Dread in players to erupt from underneath players. Players with 25-49% Dread cause an Erebos Geyser to spawn underfoot, which will erupt after a short time. Anyone caught in a geyser will take a burst of shadow damage and be flung into the air. Geysers burn with a dark flame for a short time after erupting, dealing periodic shadow damage to anyone standing in them.
    • Spell priest shadoworbs.png Erebos Orb  —  Tyr causes the Dread in players to manifest as an Erebos Orb. Players with 50-74% Dread cause an Erebos Orb to appear overhead. Orbs will gradually descend and when they strike the ground they deal a burst of shadow damage to all players. If a player stands directly underneath the Orb when it strikes, they will absorb it and gain Dread. If an Orb is not absorbed, it will bounce into the air and then descend again.
    • Spell shadow summonvoidwalker.png Erebos Eidolon  —  Tyr causes the Dread in players to consume them utterly, turning them into Eidolons. Players with 75%-99% Dread are transformed into Erebos Eidolons. Erebos Eidolons are controlled by players and must use new abilities to reduce their Dread and return to normal.

Tyr, Keeper of Order

Tyr is wounded, but will aid players as best he can.

  • Spell holy championsbond.png Tyr's Courage —  The player's Dread gradually decreases for a short time. Cast on players who interrupt the Dread Master's Glare ability.
  • Spell mage temporalshield.png Tyr's Protection —  Periodically spawns a shield of protective energies that prevent players from gaining Dread while they stand within it.
  • Spell holy sealofsalvation.png Tyr's Salvation —  Prevents one player from dying from Consumed by Dread every 30 seconds. Instead they are reduced to 50% Dread.
  • Ability priest flashoflight.png Spark of Order —  Periodically spawns randomly moving Sparks of Order. Coming into contact with a spark reduces Dread by a small amount.

Erebos Eidolon

  • Inv elemental mote shadow01.png Overwhelming Dread  —  If players do not return to normal quickly, their new form will overwhelm them and they will go insane, attacking their former allies. Players can only return to normal when their Dread is reduced to 0.
  • Spell shadow chilltouch.png Claw  —  Transformed players can use this ability if no other option presents itself. Deals physical damage to the target. Consumes no Dread.
  • Spell shadow shadesofdarkness.png Release Dread —  Consumes Dread and causes two Erebos Phantoms to spawn. Erebos Phantoms don't attack the caster but are hostile to all players.
  • Sha ability warrior bloodnova.png Dread Blast  —  Consumes Dread and hurls a bolt of dark energy at the target, dealing them shadow damage.
  • Spell shadow shadowfury.png Infuse Dread  —  The Eidolon transfers its Dread to a friendly target. Can be cast on Erebos Phantoms.

Erebos Phantom

  • Ephemeral  —  Erebos Phantoms can damage players, but cannot be targeted and damaged in return.
  • Dread Meter  —  Erebos Phantoms gain power as their Dread rises. When an Erebos Phantom reaches 100 Dread, they disappear and spawn a Dispersal Zone.
  • Disperal Zone —  Standing in a Dispersal Zone gradually causes a player's Dread to decrease. The more players that stand in a Zone, the sooner the Zone will despawn.


Phase Two - Order and Chaos

When Dread Master Tyr's health is reduced to 30%, he infuses Erebos into the true Tyr, trapping Tyr in darkness and corrupting his abilities.

Dread Master Tyr's Abilities

Dread master Tyr retains Wrath of the Master but loses all his other abilities. He gains the following new ones.

  • Sha spell fire blueimmolation.png Master's Strike  —  A physical strike imbued with the power of the Dreadforge. Deals a burst of physical damage to the target and inflicts periodic shadow damage over time for a short period. Stacking debuff.
  • Ability warlock eradication.png Growing Dread  —  Dark energy pours out of the Dread Master. Players periodically take a burst of shadow damage and gain Dread.
  • Sha spell fire blueflamestrike.png Erebos Geysers  —  Conjures multiple Erebos Geysers at the locations of random players. Anyone caught in a geyser will take a burst of shadow damage and be flung into the air. Geysers burn with a dark flame for a short time after erupting, dealing periodic shadow damage to anyone standing in them.
  • Spell priest shadoworbs.png Erebos Orbs  —  Conjures multiple Erebos Orbs around the Dread Master, which begin falling at random locations. If a player stands directly underneath the Orb when it strikes and has less than 50% Dread, they will absorb it and gain Dread. If an Orb is not absorbed, it will bounce into the air and then descend again.
  • Spell shadow summonvoidwalker.png Dread Hordes  —  Creatures of pure Erebos begin to swarm from the flames of the Dreadforge.

Tyr, Keeper of Order

Tyr's power has been corrupted by the Dread Master, causing some of his abilities to become polluted with negative energy. He uses the following abilities in Phase Two.

  • Spell holy sealofsalvation.png Tyr's Salvation —  Prevents one player from dying from Consumed by Dread every 30 seconds. Instead they are reduced to 50% Dread.
  • Ability priest surgeofdarkness.png Tyr's Waning Light —  Tyr focuses the last of his power into a glowing zone of light. Moving through this zone will greatly reduce the Dread of a single player and prevent them from gaining Dread for a short period of time.
  • Inv jewelcrafting gem 23.png Spark of Erebos —  Frequently spawns randomly moving Sparks of Erebos. Coming into contact with a spark deals a small burst of shadow damage, reduces Dread by a small amount, and causes the debuff Tainted Dread.
    • Ability rogue envelopingshadows.png Tainted Dread —  Players Dread level cannot be reduced lower than their highest stack of Tainted Dread. Stacks to 100.

Erebos Hordeling

  • Dread Touch —  Deals heavy physical damage and also increase the Dread of the target. Reducing the Hordeling's health also reduces the potency of this attack.
  • Eternal  —  Erebos Hordelings cannot be destroyed.

Strategy

In Phase One, players must manage their Dread by dealing with the Dread Master's abilities and making use of Tyr's assistance. However, players will still need to use the power of Dread to transform into Erebos Eidolons. As Erebos Eidolons, they can spawn Erebos Phantoms, and by transferring Dread to them they can transform them into Dispersal Zones, which other players can use to manage their Dread. Having a number of Dispersal Zones active for Phase Two of the encounter can be vital, since managing Dread is even more difficult then. Dispersal Zones persist as long as they are not used up, so players can create as many of them as time permits.

  • Heroic: Dread Master - Defeat Dread Master Tyr.
