The Great Push (abbreviated as TGP) is a spinoff of the Mythic Dungeon International (MDI) esports program, introduced on 7 April 2021. While the MDI has teams fighting to beat their opponent's time, The Great Push is focused on teams pushing for the highest Mythic Keystone.[1]
It plans to return during The War Within Season 1 after MDI.[2]
Format
Since Dragonflight Season 4, the format took place over the span of 3 days, 5 hours each for a total of 15 hours, and 20 minutes of required break time each day. The teams had to use the time to complete assigned keystones at the highest level possible.
- Group Compositions are now locked, teams are required to have 1 tank, 1 healer, and 3 DPS in each group.
- Dungeon Distribution is now spread out to follow a 3/2/1 schedule. Day 1 will introduce 3 dungeons, Day 2 will introduce 2 more dungeons, and Day 3 will introduce the final dungeon.
- Each team is mandated to have at least one competitor stream their gameplay during the Tournament.
- The Global Finals will be keeping the competition alive all weekend, as daily eliminations have been removed. All six teams will survive until the last second!
Prior to Dragonflight Season 4, the format had teams competing by doing the highest Keystone (starting at +24) and attempting to complete the dungeons as fast as possible. Teams were able to repeatedly run any dungeon during this time and by the conclusion of the finals runs, the team's highest keystones from every dungeon would be combined to determine the final standings. This is a race to complete as many Mythic+ dungeons as possible.[3]
Rewards and history
It has returned on multiple occasions and cycled in place with the regular MDI event:
- Dragonflight Season 4 along with the banner toy, the
[Draconic Banner of the Aspects].[4][5] - Dragonflight Season 2 along with the banner toy, the
[Smoldering Banner of the Aspects].[6] - Shadowlands Season 4 along with the banner toy, the
[Shrouded Banner of the Opportune].[7] - Season two in December 2021[8] with a toy, [Tormented Banner of the Opportune] rewarding to all registered teams that complete under time the two dungeons within the Proving Grounds.[9]
