History

She first appeared as Dread-Captain Tattersail aboard The Windrunner in Bladefist Bay in Durotar. She obtained news from Captain Dreadwake about locating a temple and relayed the message to Sylvanas Windrunner.[1] She then traveled with the Windrunner Fleet to Stormheim through the Cove of Nashal where they all were attacked by the Alliance. The Skyfire's ambush[2] left the fleet in ruin, but the crew helped Sylvanas on a rowboat and was ordered to stay and fight. When the Alliance hero and Commander Lorna Crowley advanced to the Windrunner, they fought Tattersail but stayed their hand in exchange for information about Queen Sylvanas. She only retorted for Sylvanas to be gone, and their gunship overran.[3]

After Skyfire's destruction, Nathanos Blightcaller commanded the hero to search the wreckage, and found Dread-Captain Tattersail instead, bound and guarded by 7th Legion Paratroopers. The hero untied her, and she directed them toward Sylvanas' direction and left the area.[4]

As of the Fourth War, she is seen as Dread-Admiral Tattersail aboard the Banshee's Wail in Zuldazar. From there she ferried Horde adventurers from Zuldazar to the different regions of Kul Tiras.

When the ship went to the Great Sea, it was infiltrated by the Alliance. Tattersail and deckhands were in the middle deck, protected by Thomas Zelling's water barrier.[5]

Following the destruction of the Horde fleet, Tattersail sent the Speaker of the Horde to discover the fates of Captain Dawnsail, Captain Holgresh, and Captain Jalazko. While Dawnsail and Jalazko were discovered alive, Holgresh was found dead. After being informed of their fates, Tattersail declared it better than nothing and that it was time to go to work.[6]

The Banshee's Wail is one of the Dark Lady's finest ships. She may not be much to look at, but she's tough and scrappy.

Her captain isn't half bad, either.

This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

Sometime following Sylvanas' abandonment of the Horde,[7] her loyalists had gained control of the Banshee's Wail.[8] How this was done is currently unknown, but it is known that the Banshee's Wail has a new captain, Deliria Dawes. It's currently unknown if Tattersail remained with the Horde and the ship was stolen from her or she remained loyal to Sylvanas and was granted a different command.
