Re:Zone ID's

Are there any plans on creating ID's for the instances? WoW does consider them to be their own zones. --The Nerd Wonder 15:25, 1 Mar 2005 (EST)

It sounds like this list was originally intended for use with MapNotes-type programs. Because instances have no user-visible coordinate system, it isn't possible to attach notes to particular points on the map. Therefore, no point in assigning zone IDs to them. Nevertheless, if these IDs see more general use, it may be handy for instances to have them. Below are my proposals for instances, battlegrounds, and Burning Crusade zones. The article doesn't really say who the Common Consortium is or how to get in touch with them, and a Google search only turns up this article, so I don't know where else to post this.  :-) --DarkRyder 18:44, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

Proposed extensions

Instances

See below for a proposal for an alternate naming system for winged and multi-part instances.

Battlegrounds

Expansion

These are less concrete, but represent the best information available as to what content will be present in the expansion.

Expansion continent

Expansion zones in the Eastern Kingdoms

Expansion zones in Kalimdor

Expansion instances

Expansion battleground

  • BG_ES - Eye of the Storm (though the name conflicts with the raid branch of Tempest Keep, an image is known; it remains to be seen whether this actually exists as a battleground)

Alternative scheme for mutli-part instances

Due to overcrowding in the IN_* virtual continent, I think it would be better to add a third section to specify the individual sections of winged and multi-part instances.
