A glimpse of the Worldsoul in a vision of the Radiant Song.

The Radiant Song (sometimes Radiant Vision)[1] is a phenomenon that manifests like a song or visions from "someone calling out from the heart of the world, like a voice from a dream".[2][3] It has been experienced by people all across Azeroth,[4] reporting it as a vision "filled with light and benevolence", "warm", "comforting", "like coming home".[5] It seems to originate from Azeroth's Worldsoul[6] as a warning or a cry for help,[7] which has compelled the heroes of the world to investigate its origins.[3]

According to Locus-Walker, the inhabitants of the planet K'aresh once received a vision similar to the Radiant Song shortly before the planet was invaded by the void lord Dimensius;[1] they realized too late that their world had tried to warn them of the coming danger.[8] He believes that the Radiant Song is an indication that Xal'atath seeks to bring about the same fate for Azeroth.[1]

Instances

The song was first heard when Amirdrassil took root on Azeroth and bloomed on the Dragon Isles.[9] The visions can sometimes prove painful or overbearing, and they are growing stronger with time.[2][4] Not everyone hears the Radiant Song—Archmage Modera is the only member of the Council of Six to have heard it.[5]

  • Thrall, upon hearing the song for the first time, initially believed that it could have been Amirdrassil's voice, but Jaina Proudmoore felt that it sounded "far more ancient".[9]
  • To Archmage Modera the vision felt warm and comforting, "like coming home".[5]
  • Anduin Wrynn experiences it intensely, with the song initially "shattering his thoughts into a kaleidoscope of agony and brilliant colors".[10]
  • Adventurers experience it when they travel to meet Magni and receive a vision of the Worldsoul.[4]
  • From First Arcanist Thalyssra's observations, the song made Wrathion appear distressed, with one of his hands twitching as if to reach for his head, as if struck by a sudden ache. However as she had begun to say something to him, both her and Lor'themar heard the song as pounding echoes in their heads, which caused her to become half-fallen into him, while he became none too steady on his feet.[11]
  • Vereesa Windrunner experienced a hazy vision from the Radiant Song showing her Silvermoon City invaded by the void.[12][13]
