Ruins of Nar'thalas (pronounced "NAHR-thuh-laws")[1] is a subzone found in Azsuna.[55, 42] The city is built around Nar'thalas Academy and the El'dranil Shallows that surround it. The Crumbled Palace and its Drowned Gardens are at the western edge of the area. The city was protected by the Nightwatchers.[2]

The great city of Nar'thalas was destroyed an eon ago by Queen Azshara. The city's ruler, Prince Farondis, fell with the city. The elves that lived there were cursed to wander the land for all eternity in the form of ghosts. They had in their possession the Pillar of Creation known as the  [Tidestone of Golganneth].[3]

The Hatecoil naga have stirred up the Salteye murlocs, who are now threatening the Ruins of Nar'thalas.[4]
