The Nar'thalas Academy in Azsuna.

The Nar'thalas Academy is an academy found in the Ruins of Nar'thalas in Azsuna.[54, 40] Prior to the War of the Ancients, it was the center of magical studies in all of Azeroth, full of knowledge for the night elves to learn the ways of arcane magics.[1] Its headmistress was Elya Azuremoon. The area resonates with ley energy.[2]

Background

Ancient times

Long ago, the academy used to have blue dragonflight students from the nearby Azurewing Repose.[3]

The mages of Nar'thalas were known to craft wands of exceptional quality,[4] and their scholars were renowned for their knowledge of spell runes.[5]

During the War of the Ancients, after Grand Magistrix Elisande and the Highborne of Suramar used the Pillars of Creation to oppose the Burning Legion from creating another portal in the Temple of Elune,[6] the Tidestone of Golganneth was moved for an unknown reason to the Hall of Antiquities within the academy.[7] When Prince Farondis tried to use the Tidestone to destroy the Well of Eternity in Zin-Azshari, Queen Azshara, in a frightening display of arcane power, remotely destroyed the Tidestone, releasing a wave of dark energy over all of Azsuna[8] that shattered the region and cursed its citizens to live on as ghosts.

At some point, the champions of the Tirisgarde investigated after the passage of Archmage Vargoth, where they eventually encountered Wavecaller Tidrus and his Hatecoil naga.[9]

During the Fourth War, several Nar'thalas magi left Azsuna and traveled to Stormwind City where they provided portal services to the Crumbled Palace of the Court of Farondis.

In Year 42 ADP, just prior to her trip around the various islands of Azeroth with Lor'themar, Thalyssra mentioned that the academy was being rebuilt. Ghosts still far outnumbered the living, but new students were coming. The dress code was also back in place, and all students needed the requisite hat and robes.[10]
