She rejected met at the crossroads of my existence. I will not put to words the despair and uncertainty that followed, but in time I did return.
"Tell me the true meaning of humility." She spoke to me with such familiarity in her tone that one could hardly believe so much time had passed since our last meeting.
"The unencumbered measure of my worth." I replied
"And that is?" She prompted.
"Nothing, and everything." I said.
While I adore my Paragon, may her soul rest in eternity, I shall never forgive her for the pause that followed. Her face was a mask. She left no clue of my success until, at last, she offered me her hand.
"Well said." Were her only words as she led me to the temple at long last.
