Medivh is the eighth mission of the Human campaign in Warcraft: Orcs & Humans.

Mission briefing

A new crisis has arisen that threatens to end the lives of all who would serve the King. The evil warlock Medivh has begun draining the soul of the land itself to increase his dark powers. You must take a party into his tower and destroy him before he summons enough energies to devastate all who would oppose him. Beware his mastery of the black arts, for legend speaks of his ability to command daemons of Hell.

Magus Medivh

Notes

  • All units in this mission start with full blacksmith upgrades. It is also the only mission in the human campaign where your enemies have these upgrades (the computer player normally doesn't research them).
  • Medivh will summon a Daemon each time his Magic bar is full and send it to attack the player's forces. If the player's forces approach him before his Magic bar refills, he will summon Spiders instead.
  • Ranged units can fire through walls. There is a single space near your starting position from where one of your Archers can attack Medivh. Note, however, that he can hit you back and his attacks are fast and deal lots of damage. Nonetheless, it is possible to kill him this way if you rotate your Archers to keep them from dying and heal them continuously with your Clerics.

Trivia

  • The Last Guardian described the place of Medivh's death as a cave with simple iron furniture, and Warcraft III showed the place to be a fiery dungeon. Both depictions may be a reference to this mission.
