Illusionist
- For the mage ability, see
[Illusion].
An illusionist is a spellcaster who specializes in the arcane magic school of illusion, which consists mostly of deceiving the senses of others by summoning phantasmic phenomena. As the art of deceiving reality itself, the mist of illusion can make a spellcaster invisible or inaudible to the world or twist the image of a location into something entirely different. While it can be used for disguise or manipulation, however, counter spells exist in the divination school. According to Archmage Ansirem Runeweaver, it is not viable for a mage to base their entire career on illusionary magic.[1]

Zandalari illusionists
Zandalari mages are known as illusionists. They employ powerful mojo in their incantations, often befuddling and confusing the tribe's enemies. It is quite the sight to see a powerful illusionist at work, bringing the Zandalari's enemies to their knees from their own madness.[8] Magic is a raw, primal force to be shaped by those strong enough to do it. Mojo is the Zandalari's extension of this power; one such potent manipulation of it is in the form of illusion. The Zandalari know the power of this form of magic, and as such illusionists hold an honored place within the tribe.[9] The tribe acknowledges station and power through what the Zandalari wear. Their vestments are made from the finest of materials, and interwoven with the mojo they use to make them powerful. Illusionists are no exception; their robes are said to embody the essence of illusion in their look. Legend states that their ancient robes never looked the same twice.[10]
As a magic school

Illusion is the art of deceiving reality itself, and contrary to popular belief, illusions are far more than mere parlor tricks. The spell of invisibility is among the most integral in a battle mage's repertoire, as they will often find themselves in dangerous situations and in need of a quick method for a strategic retreat. Illusions can also be used to deceive opponents into thinking that one is elsewhere, or even trick enemies into fighting each other. This is no easy task, but the accomplished illusionist can turn allies into enemies - and his or her own enemies into allies. Archmage Jandice Barov was once an excellent example of a talented illusionist. In life, she developed a spell that displayed several images of her body that were nearly indistinguishable from her real form. These images duplicated her actions from different locations, making it nearly impossible for her enemies to find her.[1]

Notes
- The Illusionist's Attire is an armor set for mages crafted by the trolls of the Zandalar tribe.
- Illusion as a school of magic is derived from the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.[1] It was never given a formal article in the Warcraft RPG, although spells from the illusion school appear throughout the series.
