Aronus is a green dragon who gives transports to adventurers in most of his appearances.
Biography
Cataclysm
During the Cataclysm, Aronus—then only a drake—flew adventurers from Nighthaven in Moonglade to join the Guardians of Hyjal on Mount Hyjal. Along the way, they witnessed the destruction of the Scorched Plain, and Deathwing summoning Ragnaros back into the world.[1] Aronus later joined the rest of the Guardians' forces at the Gates of Sothann. When adventurers found a pure twilight dragon egg at Ascendant's Rise—evidence of the first fertile twilight dragon broodmother—they brought it to Aronus.[2] Using a skull from one of her offspring,[3] Aronus and the adventurer lured the broodmother, Desperiona, into the open and killed her, with some help from Aviana.[4]
Legion
In the Emerald Nightmare, Aronus can be seen transformed into a Nightmare drake and circling above Nighthaven in the Nightmare version of Moonglade. He is always out of bounds and is only occasionally visible to players.
Dragonflight
Aronus, now a full-grown green dragon, appears in the Shady Sanctuary, Merithra's Watch, Lunedane, and the Ancient Bough in the Ohn'ahran Plains, offering flights back and forth between Shady Sanctuary and the other three locations to players.
The fact that he reappears alive and uncorrupted despite his appearance in the Emerald Nightmare is not commented on. It's unclear if this means that he was cleansed of corruption, or if the version of him seen in the Nightmare was only an illusion and not the real Aronus.
Later, Aronus traveled to the Emerald Dream and was seen at the Fields of Reverie when Fyrakk's forces were attacking the area, lying wounded on the ground near Stormbrand Ko'mal. When the adventurer approached Aronus, the dragon stood up and left.[5]
