Agamand

The Agamands were the most prosperous family in Tirisfal Glades prior to the Third War.[1] They owned the Agamand Mills in northern Tirisfal, as well as a manor in Brill.[2] During the Scourging of Lordaeron, they chose to remain and defend their home against the Scourge, but the effort was in vain as the family and their employees were all killed and raised into undeath.[1]

History

Ancient history

Arathorian settlers began establishing farmsteads in Tirisfal during Arathor's expansion around 2,700 BDP.[3] Around 1,200 BDP, immigrant noble families from Strom used their wealth to buy up large plots of land developed by earlier settlers in Tirisfal, including the Agamands.[4]

Fall and undeath

The haunted Agamand Mills.

When the Scourge first entered Tirisfal, Gregor Agamand decided that his family would stay and defend their home.[5] They fortified the Agamand Mills and convinced their employees (one of whom was Coleman Farthing) to also remain and aid in the defense.[1] They were well fortified and well stocked, but their fate was sealed when their youngest son, Devlin, betrayed them by siding with the Scourge. Devlin murdered two of the Agamands' watchmen and led a small group of Scourge through the breach to where the rest of the men slept. The undead killed a third of the defenders before being taken down, leaving the Agamands with too few men to defend their borders against the continued Scourge assault.[5]

Before long, the entire family succumbed to the Plague of Undeath and became mindless Scourge undead.[1] The Mills became a foothold for the Scourge, and their local military leader, Captain Dargol, used necromancy to raise the Agamands' ancestors from their family crypt to use against the Forsaken. The Forsaken sent adventurers to defeat the raised ancestors.[6] Coleman Farthing, now a Forsaken desiring revenge against his former employers who had caused his death, asked adventurers to bring him the remains of the family[1] so he could destroy them.[7][8] He also asked warriors to rob the Agamand crypt of its heirlooms in order to strip the last of the family's memory and honor from their lands.[9]
