Old discussion

Slumbering may mean dead. An alliance with the Lich King could be to bring him back. Just a thought.--SWM2448 19:22, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

It can also mean that he is slumbering, but not without awareness, like the green dragons, who are also slumbering but controlling their bodies from their Emerald Dream. Also a thought. ---- Ui-charactercreate-races troll-male.png [1] , the Necroshadowmancer 21:04, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Is he... Awake?

It sas he's sleeping in the article, yet in the picture, is he standing with his eyes open?  IconSmall HighElf Male.gif Mr.X8 Talk Contribs 20:19, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

See Queen Angerboda. He wakes up after you kill her.--SWM2448 20:26, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Neither Ymirjar nor Vargul?

It is stated throughout Icecrown and Storm Peaks that all Vrykul, presumably upon reaching adulthood, undergo challenges (either the Hyldsmeet or battling at Valhalas) that determine whether they will become Ymirjar or Vargul. Clearly Ymiron does not have the blue skin or frost accumulation of an Ymirjar warrior, and is undead. Does this mean he failed his challenge?  IconSmall Dwarf Male.gif Thio: Talk and Contributions 11:24, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

No, as whether or not these trials previously existed in a different form, neither vargul nor ymirjar existed before the coming of the Lich King. Ymiron is over 15 millenia old, thus predating this practice by eons. His undeath is a "gift" of sorts. --User:Vorbis/Sig 13:48, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Tactics

Edit: Ran on normal tonight, and only got two boats triggered - seems to be a time function, not damage, at least on normal. Anyone else confirm this, with times? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Angeicmar2638 (talk · contr) on 05:37, 8 May 2009‎.

It's definitely health. I've seen him hit one boat and then the next not five seconds later because he was being burned so fast. He always does two boats on normal, four on heroic. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 09:15, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Age?

Is the King Ymiron we fight in Utgarde Pinnacle really the same King Ymiron who ordered all deformed vrykul children killed? Because if so, that would make him more than 15,000 years old. Alpha Sigma Sigma (talk) 11:36, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

He went into stasis. Also, we do not know vrykul lifespans.--SWM2448 01:04, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
He's also undead.--Ashbear160 (talk) 01:14, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Not initially.--SWM2448 01:29, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
He's undead cause the Lich King brought him back after we killed him by bringing him out of stasis improperly (I believe was the story), while at the same time killing his mate... surprised the Lich King didn't raise both of them though. I don't think he died at that point.--SWM2448 04:10, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
You're right, but going back to age it's also likely given the storyline that all vyrkul are around the same age, since they recently just started showing up and causing trouble to the local humans that were stranded there. Status

As per Template:Npcbox Ymiron is Alive, do not change that. Regarding his being brought to the Halls of Valor that's something that should be part of the main article, not the |status= parameter in the NPCBox. -- MyMindWontQuiet 14:37, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

All members of the Valarjar (In the Skyhold) are ascended after their deaths (Ymiron after his defeat in the Maw of Souls), they aren't undead and they aren't alive, for that reason is relevant add a brief summary in the state. SargerasDoomhammer (talk) 14:52, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
Ascended works the same way as undead; (they're technically still alive). This information should just stick to the lore/history sections imo. — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 15:08, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
Agreed with the rest. Detailed in the history section and leave the status parameter as "Alive" / "Deceased". --Mordecay (talk) 15:09, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
AFAIK Darius Crowley, Eitrigg, and a few others are never stated to have died. Also a few other characters canonically died before to be resurrected, like Illidan and the Forsaken, and they are all either "Alive" or "Active", but no more information is added in the infobox. It's also kinda irrelevant to say "Valarjar|ascended" when their faction is already said to be the Valarjar. Xporc (talk) 15:11, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
Eitrigg and Darius still alive, but Ymiron, Ragnvald Drakeborn, Svergan Stormcloak and Finna Bjornsdottir they die and their souls ascend into the army of Odyn, they aren't really alive and they aren't undeads. I think that the correct status for Ymiron is Active but MyMindWontQuiet reverted that, so what is the correct status for Ymiron and the Valarjar members, because they aren't alive.)SargerasDoomhammer (talk) 15:26, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
That state you are describing is being Valarjar. As they have not being killed again yet, "Alive" and "affiliation = Valarjar" is the solution here. Xporc (talk) 15:28, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
See the case of Svergan Stormcloak when we met him, he is a Vrykul ghost who ascended into the halls, he still alive?
Ragnvald Drakeborn and Finna Bjornsdottir They died in the broken shore and ascended, they still alive?
Ymiron die in WotLK, and their soul was slaved in the Maw of souls, and later slaved by Odyn, he still alive?
In my opinion they are active not alive SargerasDoomhammer (talk) 15:41, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
They look fine and alive in their pimping new bodies, as depicted by File:King Ymiron Skyhold.jpg, File:Finna Bjornsdottir.jpg, File:Ragnvald Drakeborn.jpg and here. Xporc (talk) 15:48, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
Svergan, yes he is alive and well in the Skyhold.
Ragnvald and Finna are still alive and well in the Skyhold.
Ymiron, yes he is alive and well in the Skyhold.
as per {{Npcbox}} - "Active" (when referring to gods, demigods and related beings) (which means this brings concern for others stated as Active, Undead). -— SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 15:52, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

In this quest show us that they died, and their spirits ascended into the halls of valorSargerasDoomhammer (talk) 16:06, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

Their being "ascended" (whatever that means) is irrelevant to this discussion. Ymiron was ressuscitated by Odyn and brought to the Halls of Valor, yes. So he's Alive. Not "Alive (ascended)", just "Alive". And I'm pretty sure that Ragnvald and Finna died too, and were then rezzed and brought to the Halls. You (the player) were the only one who didn't die (the val'kyr Danica the Redeemer states that she saved you before you died). -- MyMindWontQuiet 16:41, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
