Druid staff

Balance Druids get teh shaft... =( It's excellent mages, warlocks, and priests of any kind. It's also excellent for resto and feral druids. But balance gets no love. --Adonzo 03:06, 7 June 2006 (EDT)

Well, thing is, you'll get this through A LOT of raiding - so it's a raiding focused staff, I'm afraid :/

  • The presumption being that there are no balance raiding druids? I have a fat furry friend who would like to pick that bone with ya. --Hobes 06:57, 5 July 2006 (EDT)

But look at that party bonus! Geez! 11 mana/5 sec to everyone nearby. -_-; Pzychotix 01:25, 20 July 2006 (EDT)

At least Druids get a chance at the staff. What about Shaman? They get screwed again. Name me one legendary item that is class specific to Shaman, and I can name you multiple ones for every other class. My Elem Shaman would love to have this staff.

Balance Druids benefit from this thing even more than the other specs! Big boosts to Stamina, Spirit (good, I guess...), and Intellect, 11 mana/5 seconds, +100 damage, and +420 attack power (that's another 126 mana for each Grace of Elune proc!) are all very good for Balance Druids.

  • I do agree that there need to be more Legendary gear for the classes; there's all these classes that get Epics and Legendaries for every spec, but there's the classes that get very few Epics or Legendaries for some of there specs (and half the time, the things for those specs are just crap that's worse than the stuff any class can use). Balance Druids and Shamans really get boned by the lack of specalized gear. Felindre

Background

Concerning the background of Atiesh, there is an NPC in Light's Hope Chapel who tells a lot about the staff and how it was the focal point of Sargeras' corruption of Medivh. I will see if I can get some screenshots of it.

Obtaining It

So has any guild found the base of the staff, or some splinters yet? And if so, where do they drop? Or will this not be available until the expansion? Omacron

-Sera member of Vis Maior (Alliance guild of US-Bonechewer) was the first world wide to gather 40 Splinter of Atiesh at Tue, August 22 2006. You could obtain it 'theoritically' since 1.11 patch, but killing Kel'Thuzad that drops the Head of Atiesh is a really difficult task on level 60. Blizzard announced that only few really dedicated guild worldwide will kill Sapphiron or/and Kel'Thuzad before the expansion. --Dead_LAN 16:27, 1 September 2006 (EDT)

Is this still a good item at level 70, or is it worse than some of the staves that came out in Burning Crusade? Felindre

party members?

Any idea if a raid counts as party member? Or will the equip-effect just work like a paladin/shaman aura, limited to the players group?

-Limited to party. --Dead_LAN 16:20, 1 September 2006 (EDT)

Warlock Stats

Can anyone confirm the Warlock stats? Seems a bit off since it's missing any +spirit. All the other class versions get a nice +25 spirit bonus, but the warlock one gets shafted and gets no bonus to make up for it. Pzychotix 11:11, 1 August 2006 (EDT)

Yes, it is without spirit though it may get some some hp/tick bonus. --Dead_LAN 15:45, 1 September 2006 (EDT)

Do you even have a Warlock, Pzychotix? Warlocks need Spirit like a Warrior needs +healing gear; they get Life Tap for restoring mana, and that completely slaughters Spirit-based mana regen. Plus, there's a Demonology Talent that boosts Stamina while reducing Spirit; that's a pretty clear sign that Warlocks don't need Spirit. Felindre

Brann in Outland? Confirmation?

Can anyone confirm that Brann Bronzebeard is now in Outland? KjetilV 00:08, 19 August 2006 (CET)

Unless someone leaked the expansion out early or someone is breaking their NDAs, this is impossible to know. Pzychotix 18:07, 18 August 2006 (EDT)
I believe Anachronos states that Brann Bronzebeard is in the outland. Jaxdahl 18:36, 9 September 2006 (EDT)
  • points to the picture on the atiesh (what it really looks like). Needs confirmation, should take out the email in the picture and add in maybe a tooltip.

Multi tooltip

I fixed up on it my original Multi-tooltip proposal, however it is making the page looking very empty due to the length of the tooltips, any idea? Also, I added the Quest Item version (See Allakhazam) and the elinks available.. some are missing tho. --Adys 03:04, 23 September 2006 (EDT)

move the tooltip section towards the bottom of the page perhaps? -- Jaxdahl 00:16, 24 September 2006 (EDT)
Imo make 2x2 tooltips --Dead_LAN 05:11, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
Ok thought a bit about it... the ideal system eventually would be to make an "on click" tooltip. Four links "Mage version" "Warlock version" "Priest version" "Druid version", on click dropping a table with inside the tooltip and external links. Anyone knows if its possible to put that in html? (Or eventually if its possible to use Javascript there ...) --Adys 06:04, 26 September 2006 (EDT)

Shards drop from normal Naxx bosses, head drops from Kel'thuzad and the base is dropped by C'Thun since that dwarf was probably sacrificed to him.

Apparition

Who played Warcraft 3 already know it: Atiesh was in the hands of Medivh during all the campaigns of "Warcraft 3 - Reign of Chaos". He held it in the starting movie (Thrall's vision) and in the ending (Eternity's End) thus also after the distruction of Dalaran. Maybe we can add somethink about it in this article? N'Nanz 10:34, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

I think it could be possible that the staff Medivh is carrying around during the Third War is some kind of a "ghost" of the real staff, since it is impossible to have two of them. If it is so, then it can be explained why does Medivh has his own book here and here on his waist. Though I don't know is this book the possible other copy of Book of Medivh. Atiesh in WotLK?

We all heard that Naxxramas is moving in the next expansion; what could this mean for Atiesh? Will it never be obtainable again, or will it be upgraded for level 80 (even though the port to Karazhan would be kinda useless by this point)? --Joshmaul 08:12, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

My sentiments exactly.
As a balance druid, I know that I won't get any considerable boost from Atiesh, but I'm driven to put the staff together -just- to see what happens to Atiesh when WotLK does go live.
Will Atiesh get revamped on the fly? ("Please accommodate shamans and balance druids..." *beg*) Or will the 'Atieshes' already in the possession of players just be legendary pieces of garbage only useful for Role-Playing sessions? (... I'd keep it just for that if for nothing else. Honest.)
Also, if Atiesh is revamped to become an obtainable weapon for level 80s for Naxx2, AND is allowed to keep its Kara-port ability, I'm sure it'll still have a purpose. I've heard speculation that the lower levels of Karazhan may be released in a later patch; but it is speculation, and it should not be taken seriously unless stated otherwise by Blizzard. The Kara-port ability would be nice if we did get access to Kara's basement, though.
Anyways, I'll keep you guys updated in this insane quest/experiment, and let you know if I find anything. Good fortunes to anyone else with the same questions. Kittylizard 05:25, 18 February 2008 (PST)

With the revamp of naxx it is very possible that Atiesh appears again, especially because the Ashbringer also appears in Northrend (Some screenshots show him in the hands of that Paladin, cant recall his name).--Pimmeh (talk) 13:58, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

The paladin is Tirion Fordring, the last of the founding members of the Silver Hand... and yes, I've heard that it is very likely Atiesh will be revived as a level 80 item along with the revamped Naxx 2.0. I just want to see how the old Atiesh 1.0 will react to the possible introduction of Atiesh 2.0 in WotLK. ... and to see how fast we can get this baby assembled. *grins* Kittylizard (talk) 05:14, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

A visit to Anachronos

Once you have obtained the frame and when you are required to speak to Anachronos, what does happen if you still being hated by the Brood of Nozdormu? Can you ever continue this quest?

Agent of Sargeras

I was wondering who was the "agent of Sargeras" that somehow "possesed" the staff. Was it Atiesh, Hand of Sargeras? Rolandius (talk) 05:24, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Yup. CogHammer.gif Ose talk/3721 07:36, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

"Meryl's possession"

In World of Warcraft: Issue 22 preview Blizz stated that "Med’an keeps Meryl’s possession a secret". Since in previous issues Meryl stated he was in Naxxramas and was already in Ahn'qiraji before the events of Issue 18 perhaps the misterious possession is Atiesh? Naxxramas and Ahn'qiraji were the locations were the various parts of Atiesh dropped before Wrath... --N'Nanz (talk) 10:03, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Speculation, speculation! IconSmall Wolvar.gifBig, furry, and insane (Have a conversation with the homocidal furry!) (Come and stalk me! ...No, wait, please don't.) 10:06, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps, but it seems like they're out to assemble Atiesh in the comic.IconSmall BloodElf Male.gifAMBER(RΘCK) 13:05, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
Meryl is possessed by Kathra'natir. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 17:47, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
Yes. But that's not the point I'm making. On page 15 of issue 23, Meryl mentions to Garona that Atiesh will be a great asset in the fight against Cho'gall. On page 20, he tells her to get the base out of the tummy of C'Thun.IconSmall BloodElf Male.gifAMBER(RΘCK) 22:57, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
Oh, yeah, that definitely seems to be the way they're going. I'm just saying, Atiesh isn't the demon possessing Meryl. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 06:38, October 16, 2009 (UTC)
The next legendary caster weapon? Will the Atiesh be renewed? :O Pudim17 (talk - contr) 23:30, October 18, 2009 (UTC)
No. Blizzard has never released several legendary items in one raid. For Icecrown Citadel, the confirmed legendary will be  [Shadowmourne].IconSmall BloodElf Male.gifAMBER(RΘCK) 23:35, October 18, 2009 (UTC)
They said on Blizzcon the first legendary on Cataclysm will be a caster weapon ^.~ Pudim17 (talk - contr) 12:54, October 21, 2009 (UTC)
Don't get your hopes up. If a lore character has it we have no chance of obtaining it. I point to Ashbringer, for starters. The weapon will probably follow the same route and become better in the hands of the lore characters and we'll be stuck with the old version that's now useless and unobtainable. Lego3400 (talk) 06:40, November 26, 2009 (UTC)
I'll be damned if Lego does not speak the truth. IconSmall Amberrock.pngAMBER(ЯΘ<K) 09:42, November 26, 2009 (UTC)
There's a reason I replaced all of the item links for Ashbringer with page links a few months back. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 10:28, November 26, 2009 (UTC)

"Seed of hate" and age of Atiesh

Hello! At the beginning of the history, in this page, it is stated that "Its date of creation is unknown, but it is known that Atiesh was forged from the "seed of hate" and was wielded by each Guardian of Tirisfal until the line ended with Medivh. This would set the age of Atiesh at thousands of years". Does anybody know from what source these two statements are taken? -- Forco sussura agli abissi 15:13, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

Ok, found it and added to Wowpedia. -- Forco sussura agli abissi 15:32, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

With Medivh or locked up in Dal?

Medivh was wielding Atiesh in WC3, even in the closing cinematic after Archimonde's destruction. But according to the WoW NPCs, the staff was brought to Dalaran soon after Medivh was slain and that it shattered when Dalaran was destroyed. Retcon? --Aquamonkeyeg (talk) 04:09, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

Khadgar

Does he specifically mentions that he had Atiesh on Draenor? --Mordecay (talk) 09:08, 5 July 2016 (UTC)
