Shooting Stars is a Balance druid talent. It gives [Moonfire], [Sunfire], and [Stellar Flare] a chance to deal additional damage and generate Astral Power.

Patch changes

  • Dragonflight Patch 10.2.0 (2023-11-07): Damage increased by 15%.
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2023-07-18): Fixed a bug that could cause Shooting Stars to hit enemies not affected by [Moonfire] or [Sunfire].
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.1.0 (2023-05-02): Chance for Shooting Stars to fall increased by 15%. Shooting Stars can no longer be triggered by [Stellar Flare].
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 2 Balance talent (was a level 49 Balance ability) and also affects Stellar Flare.
  • Shadowlands Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Shooting Stars is no longer a Talent and learned by all Balance Druids at level 49. Shooting Stars now generates 3 Astral Power (was 4) and the proc chance has been increased by 50%.
  • Legion Patch 7.2.0 (2017-03-28): Shooting Stars grants 2 Astral Power on player targets (was 4 Astral Power).
  • Legion Patch 7.1.5 (2017-01-10): Damage increased by 31%.
  • Legion Hotfix (2016-08-22): Shooting Stars now gives 4 Astral Power (was 5).
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Redesigned as a level Balance 90 talent (was a level 26 Balance ability). Moonfire and Sunfire damage has a 10% chance to call down a falling star, dealing (42% of Spell power) Arcane damage and generating 4 Astral Power.
    Previous: You have a 5% chance when your most recent Moonfire or Sunfire deals damage over time to trigger Shooting Stars. Chance doubled on critical strikes. Shooting Stars restores 1 charge of Starsurge and Starfall.
  • Warlords of Draenor Hotfix (2014-12-10): Shooting Stars should no longer fail to trigger if the most recent target of Moonfire or Sunfire dies.
  • Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Redesigned. You have a 5% chance when your most recent Moonfire or Sunfire deals damage over time to trigger Shooting Stars. Chance doubled on critical strikes. Shooting Stars restores 1 charge of Starsurge and Starfall.
    Old: You have a 30% chance when you deal critical periodic damage with your Moonfire or Sunfire to instantly reset the cooldown of your Starsurge and cause its next cast within 12 sec to be instant. This chance is reduced against multiple targets.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.4.0 (2013-09-10): Now has a reduced chance to activate for each additional target affected by the same spell (Moonfire and Sunfire are tracked separately).
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Now has a 30% chance to trigger when dealing critical periodic damage with Moonfire or Sunfire (was a 2/4% chance when dealing damage with Moonfire or Insect Swarm). Now a level 26 Balance specialization ability (was a tier 3 Balance talent).
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): Buff duration has been increased to 12 seconds, up from 8 seconds.
  • Cataclysm Hotfix (2010-12-02): The proc buff from the talent Shooting Stars should no longer be consumed without providing its benefits if the druid is already casting [Starsurge].
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Added.
