Tips and tactics
- It's also good for kiting in PvP or finishing off fleeing enemies.
- It's often considered an excellent choice for pulling, regardless of the druid's specialization due to its instant cast and long lasting DoT.

- Sunfire is a rare example of an ability that appeared in the Trading Card Game before it actually appeared in the game.

- Patch 11.0.2 (2024-08-13): Damage decreased by 15%.
- Patch 11.0.0 (2024-07-23): Moved to row 3 (was row 2).
- Patch 10.2.0 (2023-11-07): Now costs 1.8% base mana (was 2.4%).
- Hotfix (2023-08-21): Fixed an issue where Sunfire was not updating quick enough after receiving a Mastery increase from an external source.
- Hotfix (2023-06-05): Now generates 4 Astral Power when cast in PvP combat (was 6).
- Patch 10.1.0 (2023-05-02): Sunfire generates 6 Astral Power (was 2).
- Patch 10.0.5 (2023-01-24): Now a row 2 talent (was row 6).
- Hotfix (2022-12-02): Fixed an issue where Sunfire applied to multiple targets would not correctly trigger the Mastery benefit.
- Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 6 class talent (was a level 23 Balance/Restoration ability). Rank 2 converted into the [Improved Sunfire] talent. Rank 3 removed.

- Now generate 2 Astral Power (was 3). Now learned at level 23 (was 16).
- Rank 3 added for Balance at level 33: Moonfire and Sunfire duration increased by 6 sec.
- Patch 8.3.0 (2020-01-14): Damage and periodic damage reduced by 10%.
- Hotfix (2018-08-07): Sunfire will no longer apply to secondary targets that are immune to its effects, such as Rogues with [Cloak of Shadows] active.
- Patch 7.2.0 (2017-03-28): Sunfire now deals 50% less periodic damage to player targets.
- Patch 7.1.5 (2017-01-10): Increased the damage of Sunfire by 4%.

- Hotfix (2016-08-22): Moonfire and Sunfire DoT damage has been decreased to 50% per tick (was 55%).
- Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): No longer available to Feral or Guardian. Direct damage increased by 157%, damage per tick increased by 96%. Now lasts for 12 seconds, down from 24 seconds.
- Patch 6.2.3 (2015-11-17): Damage has been increased by 6%.
- Patch 6.2.0 (2015-06-23): Now deals 4% less damage.
- Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14):
- Sunfire now has a base duration of 24 seconds (up from 14 seconds), but is no longer extended by [Wrath] and [Starsurge] critical strikes. Enemies may still suffer from both Moonfire and Sunfire’s periodic damage components simultaneously. Upon reaching 100 Solar Energy, the next Sunfire deals 100% additional initial damage.
- [Moonfire] and Sunfire will now replace each other on the Action Bar when switching cycles on the Eclipse Bar.
- Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Now a level 18 Balance ability (was a Tier 5 Balance talent) and no longer replaces Moonfire. Wrath and Starsurge critical strikes on the target will now extend your Sunfire's duration by 2 sec.
- Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): Now costs 9% of base mana, down from 18% of base mana.
- Patch 4.0.3 (2010-11-16): Sunfire's damage-over-time effect now deals damage at the same rate as Moonfire's damage- over-time effect.
