Corporal Rych was a human soldier of Northwatch Hold whose parents hailed from Kul Tiras. His father, before dying because of a flue, was a part of the Kul Tiras Irregulars and wielded a claymore. Rych's mother later died fighting the Burning Legion passing the weapon to her son.[1]
He used to work in a tavern named Mowbry's Tavern in Kul Tiras, where he cleared out the drunks there.[1]
Background
Rych was among the plate armor-clad soldiers of Theramore who escorted Captain Joq's ship, the Passion's Reward. He witnessed Joq's arrest in Ratchet for his brawl with the orc Klatt, and gave a report about the arrest to Major Davin. Rych was not sure about asking for reinforcement from Theramore.[2]
He later participated in the battle near Northwatch against orcs and trolls. He witnessed as his friends, Hoban and Allyn were killed by an orc named Gorx. Rych killed Gorx, but another orc attacked him and injured him. Rych was able to use his family-heirloom claymore and hit the orc's head. He then went to kill more orcs, but was still injured.[1] Thus, it is unclear whether he survived the battle or not.
