Rising Sun Kick is a monk class talent. It is automatically learned for free by Mistweaver and Windwalker monks, but Brewmasters can spend 1 point to unlock it.

Tips and tricks

In all specs, this is a strong damage ability. It has variable cost depending on the spec. Its damage can be improved with the general class tree talent [Fast Feet].

For Mistweavers in Dragonflight, this ability interacts with a number of talents. The talents [Rapid Diffusion] and [Rising Mist] allow Rising Sun Kick to extend or spread the Heal over Time spell [Renewing Mist]. Rising Sun Kick is also able to trigger [Ancient Teachings] and [Invoke Chi-Ji, the Red Crane] to provide healing. Finally, for more casts of the ability, Rising Sun Kick can be refreshed via [Blackout Kick] (with the talents [Teachings of the Monastery] and [Ancient Concordance]), or have its cooldown shortened by [Thunder Focus Tea].

This ability interacts with Brewmaster's [Spirit of the Ox] to generate self healing. However, that is its only defensive benefit; it does not interact with [Shuffle] nor [Mastery: Elusive Brawler], unlike their [Blackout Kick], which interacts with both. As usual, its damage still provides aggro against the Brewmaster.

Windwalker gets the same [Teachings of the Monastery] reset mechanic as Mistweaver. Windwalker-only additionally renders the target with reduced healing thanks to the Rank 2 upgrade, which can be useful in PvP and for some raidbosses. A synergy effect called Shadowflame Nova was also part of the spec's Abberus tierset bonus.
