Blackout Kick is a monk ability.

Tips and tricks

[Teachings of the Monastery] for mistweaver and windwalker allows [Tiger Palm] strikes to store up and stack free extra casts of Blackout Kick, and in turn these stacks makes it easier to quickly reset the even more powerful ability [Rising Sun Kick]. Brewmaster has no such resetting effect, but using Blackout Kick gives [Hit Scheme] will empower their [Keg Smash] instead.
[Shadowboxing Treads] can upgrade this ability with a cleave/multi-target effect. For mistweaver, a similar multi-target effect comes from [Ancient Concordance] instead.
For brewmaster this ability interacts with [Shuffle] and [Mastery: Elusive Brawler], [Blackout Combo], as well as a number of various other talent interactions.
While windwalker gets access to both [Teachings of the Monastery] and [Shadowboxing Treads], they are also the only specialization which has a chi cost on Blackout Kick. The other specializations instead have a short cooldown timer.

- Now learned at level 2 (was 3). Rank now learned at level 17 and reduces the Chi cost by 2 (was 1). Rank 3 now learned at level 23 and reduces the cooldown of Rising Sun Kick and Fists of Fury by 1.0 sec (previously reduced the Chi cost by 1).

Hotfix (2017-11-28): Damage increased by 10% in PvP situations (Mistweaver and Windwalker only).
Patch 7.3.5 (2018-01-16): Windwalker: Now costs 3 Chi (was 1) when it is learned at level 3. The Chi cost is reduced to 2 with an upgrade at Level 12, and reduced to 1 Chi with another upgrade at Level 22.

Previous effects:
Brewmaster: Increases your parry chance by 10% for 6 sec.
Mistweaver: Increases your critical strike chance by 20% for 20 sec and deals damage to nearby targets. Eminence healing from this ability heals up to 4 targets for 20% of the damage done.
Windwalker: If behind the target, you deal an additional 30% damage over 4 sec. If in front of the target, you are instantly healed for 30% of the damage done.
Patch 6.2.2 (2015-09-01): Now deals 10% more damage.
Patch 6.2.0 (2015-06-23):
- Now deals 5% less damage.
- No longer increases the Stagger amount for Brewmaster monks.
Hotfix (2014-10-17): Damage has been increased by 20%.
