Noggenfogger Elixir is a consumable potion purchasable from Sprinkle Noggenfogger[51.2, 29.8] in Gadgetzan in stacks of 5 for 35s. Invented by Marin Noggenfogger, the green[1] potion is made from dew from thistleshrub glands mixed with powder from Violet Tragan mushrooms.[2]

Prior to Cataclysm, the elixir was sold by Marin himself and only became available after completing the N [49] Noggenfogger Elixir questline.

Consuming this potion grants one of three buffs—"temporary undeath", "world enlargement", and "uncontrolled weightlessness"[1]—picked at random:

The different effects will stack if the player consumes multiple elixirs, allowing them, for example, to be a skeleton with slow fall.

Background

Marin and his elixir's various effects in action, as depicted in the Trading Card Game.

The invention of the elixir began when Marin Noggenfogger asked adventurers to collect a water-storing gland from a thistleshrub so he could create a drink to quench his thirst.[3] The result tasted poorly, so Marin asked his friend Sprinkle to improve its taste.[4] Sprinkle sent the adventurer to collect her personal secret ingredient, the Violet Tragan, a mushroom that only grows in Valorwind Lake in the Hinterlands,[5] which she made into a powder that she gave to Marin.[6] Marin mixed the powder with the dew and was so impressed with the result that he was confident he'd "make millions" off of the brew, which he named after himself.[2]

As of the Cataclysm, Marin's now-wife Sprinkle sells the "world-famous" elixir to visitors in Gadgetzan, advertising it as "delicious" and "home brewed from all-natural ingredients, bottled and sold locally right here in Gadgetzan".[7]

When Rexxar and Zekhan visited Gadgetzan, goblins told them to try the elixir.[1]

This dark green substance resembles an oil at first glance. It is so thick and viscous that some feel imbibing it is more like eating an oyster — the stuff must be swallowed whole. The renowned goblin alchemist Marin Noggenfogger was the first to create this bizarre concoction. The elixir requires a variety of strange ingredients, including the moisture found within the exceptionally rare thistleshrub dew collectors found only in the Tanaris Desert. The means to create Noggenfogger elixir is a secret known only to a few goblin alchemists, who guard the secret jealously. Noggenfogger elixir is typically sold in bottles of 5 doses, although this varies depending on the vendor.[8]

Trivia

  • The shrink effect is similar to that of  [Pygmy Oil].
  • The skeleton transformation spell specifically uses the model from the Skeletal Fiends.
