Nikolon, initially seen as Disciple Nikolon and then as Fallen Disciple Nikolon, is a kyrian located in Bastion. After being given a new physical form, Nikolon was a deeply empathic soul who found himself unable to let go of his emotions and chose to join the Forsworn, rather than endure the pain of ascension. However, after experiencing the horrors of the Maw, he led many Forsworn back to Bastion and aided in the reuniting of the Kyrian Covenant.

Biography

Joining the Forsworn

Nikolon is initially seen during the Bastion storyline in the Temple of Purity, where he is among the numerous Vulnerable Aspirants falling prey to their doubts or not wanting or let go of their memories or emotions. Uther apparently speaks to him about joining the Forsworn, but the Maw Walker interrupts their conversation. Nikolon's walk back to the Hand of Purity, Eridia, is slowed as he expresses his sorrow at the aspirants' languishing in doubt and despair.[1] Eridia asks for the Maw Walker's help in removing Nikolon's doubts. Nikolon initially agrees gladly, but during the ritual, he is shocked at the sheer agony that the cleansing causes, realizing that it is this process that grinds down the aspirant's will, until there is nothing left but despair. Despite destroying the memory that manifest from his despair, Nikolon's doubts overwhelm him and he becomes sure that the path must be abandoned, leaving the temple to join the Forsworn.[2]

Chains of Domination

Some time later, the Maw Walker encounters Nikolon once again in the Maw. While storming the Desmotaeron with the Undying Army and the Zerekriss, Nikolon appears to beg the Maw Walker's aid. It turns out that the Forsworn were unaware of the true extent of the Jailer's depravity and were about to be forcibly corrupted by Helya to join the ranks of the Mawsworn. The Maw Walker and Baroness Draka managed to free all the imprisoned kyrian, who fly towards the Zerekriss, intent on returning to Bastion and submitting themselves to the Archon's judgment.

After being rescued, Nikolon and the Forsworn regretted their alliance with the Maw and agreed to reunify with the Kyrian of Bastion in hopes for a new path to be made. After Adrestes would become the Paragon of Devotion, with Kleia serving as his Hand, Nikolon spent a moment with Uther taking the opportunity to apologize to Nikolon for recruiting him to the Forsworn. Nikolon told him that he had already lost faith in the Archon by the time Uther showed him "the truth", but Uther insisted that Nikolon had suffered because of his actions and that he wouldn't let it happen again.[3][4] After completing their tasks, Nikolon, Uther, and the Maw Walker helped defend Adrestes from a Mawsworn attack while he used the anima to change the path of the temple and turn it into the Temple of Devotion.[5]

N [60] The New Path gossip

I remember you there when I fell, Maw Walker.

It is not your fault, nor Uther's fault, nor even Eridia's fault. In fact, it was not my fault, either.

One path cannot suffice for eternity. Too often do beings act in specific ways because it is tradition--or how it has always been done--instead of investigating the reason why their predecessors started functioning this way to begin with.

I acted how I thought was just. Imagine my horror as I saw the truth, witnessed my fellows twisted into Mawsworn. You helped me save everybody we could, but when we arrived here it seemed nothing had yet changed.

Thank you for all you, and your friends, have done. The work is hardly over, but I will help all I can as a disciple of Devotion.

Citadel of Loyalty gossip

I will devote all that I am to aid the forsworn and kyrian to find true unity once more.
