The Moonrage pack[1] refers to the inhabitants of Pyrewood Village, which is located below the massive Shadowfang Keep. Originally simple, ordinary people of the kingdom of Gilneas, the townsfolk were cursed by the maddened archmage, Arugal. As part of their curse, possibly influenced by the Pyrewood Shackles they wear, the townsfolk turn into rampaging worgen at night.[2]

History

Curse of the Worgen

The Gilnean town of Pyrewood had in truth fallen to the Curse of the Worgen, brought on by the summoning of the worgen by Archmage Arugal against the Scourge in the Third War in service to Gilneas. Sealed off from Gilneas, the townsfolk soon succumbed to the curse as Arugal took up refuge in Shadowfang Keep, rumored to be driven mad by what he had done, and serving the worgen leader Alpha Prime.

Pyrewood became afflicted with the curse, and at night its inhabitants became mindless worgen in service to Arugal.

Cataclysm

Cataclysm This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

After the Cataclysm, the Moonrage, as well as most of the worgen in Silverpine Forest, have already been eradicated by the Forsaken. Pyrewood was wiped out presumably along with its original occupants, then later destroyed again after the Alliance planned to use the town. With the villagers gone, it is presumable that like the other worgen, the Moonrage has been either wiped out or absorbed into the Bloodfang pack.
