Kurzen's Expedition was an expedition of humans from Stormwind led by Colonel Conrad Kurzen.

History

World of Warcraft

This section concerns content related to the original World of Warcraft.

After arriving at Stranglethorn Vale, the expedition established Kurzen's Compound as their new base of operations. Not long after that, an ogre mage named Mai'Zoth possessed the mind of Kurzen to control his men for his own purposes. When the humans noticed Kurzen's sudden change, a small group rebelled and left to the west where they formed the Rebel Camp while the rest remained loyal to Kurzen.

Mai'Zoth corrupted Kurzen through an artifact known as the  [Mind's Eye], and his medicine men distributed an elixir made of basilisk blood and  [Whispering Blue Stone] as medicine to prevent insubordination.

Mogh the Dead the chief witchdoctor of the Skullsplitter tribe mind controlled several Kurzen Mindslaves and kept them by his side in the Ruins of Zul'Mamwe.

Cataclysm

This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

Either some time before or after the Cataclysm, Kurzen was executed by being flung off a tower due to being weak. With Kurzen dead, Chief Esquivel rised to command the expedition.^{[citation needed]}

• The kingdom of Stormwind ran up a huge debt by expanding its military presence, notably into Stranglethorn Vale.
