History

Legion

Legion This section concerns content related to Legion.

While Skoll cavorted about the Storm Peaks, Hati stayed with his master at the Temple of Storms. Shortly after the third invasion of the Burning Legion, the vrykul Prustaga went to the Temple of Storms and attempted to absorb the power of  [Titanstrike] into herself. She could not control it, however, and its power erupted in an explosion that killed her and mortally wounded Hati. To save his life, the Huntmaster of the Unseen Path bound Hati's spirit to themselves and channeled the unstable power, and Hati's spirit, back into Titanstrike.[1] Together, they battled against the Burning Legion on the Broken Isles and beyond.

Battle for Azeroth

Battle for Azeroth This section concerns content related to Battle for Azeroth.

Hati's spirit was thought lost after Titanstrike's power was expended against the Sword of Sargeras, but Mimiron later discovered that he had severed himself from the  [Thunderspark] at the weapon's core to survive. Doing so scattered his essence across Azeroth, but Mimiron determined that it had coalesced at the Temple of Storms and in Silithus.[3] Atop the Temple of Storms they found that Hati's essence, maddened by the experience, had trapped Thorim in his throne. Together with Grif Wildheart, the Huntmaster subdued Hati's essence and re-absorbed it into the Thunderspark. After telling Thorim of their plan, the keeper eagerly joined them in Silithus.[4] The essence there was likewise confused and maddened by the pain of The Wound, but together the three were able to subdue it and absorb it into the Thunderspark.[5]

With Hati's essence contained, they returned to the Spark of Imagination in Ulduar where Mimiron used the Thunderspark's power to reform Hati's body.[6] Though Hati's essence was once more bound to the Huntmaster, it would forevermore carry a link to the Temple of Storms... And to Silithus.[7]

Exploring Azeroth

Following the war against the Jailer, the brothers Bronzebeard visited Thorim at the Temple of Storms, and mentioned that Hati was still with the Huntmaster.[8]

Trivia

  • In Norse mythology, Sköll and Hati (meaning "Treachery" and "He Who Hates", respectively) are two wolves who pursue the sun and moon through the sky in hopes of devouring them. At Ragnarök, the downfall of the cosmos, they catch their prey as the sky and earth darken and collapse.

Patch changes

  • Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.1.5 (2019-03-12): All level 120 Hunters of Azeroth should speak to the Image of Mimiron located in Tradewinds Market in Boralus or the Great Bazaar in Zuldazar. You'll discover more about Hati's whereabouts and make a future with your spirited companion by your side once again.
  • Legion Hotfix (2016-09-14): Hati will now reset appearance to the default blue wolf form the first time summoned.
Developers' Notes: Due to a bug, some hunters had Hati transform with the  [Essence Swapper] into appearances that are unintended. A fix has been made for this to prevent future issues, but to get rid of any unintended appearances that players may already have, Hati's appearance will be reverted to the default blue wolf when first summoned, and should retain any appearance changes thereafter. The Essence Swapper will continue to allow you to change Hati's appearance to match that of your currently active hunter pet.
