Background

This spell was one of the Conjurer's abilities in Warcraft: Orcs & Humans:

Conjurers maintain a close relationship with the elements about them, and the ability to focus those forces is the basis of this spell. This channeling manifests itself as a sphere of charged energy that issues forth from the hands, enabling the caster to strike an enemy from a great distance. This is one of the basic magiks taught to conjurers and serves as the cornerstone for training the caster in focusing both mind and will to the task of summoning.^[1]

Patch changes

Hotfix (2024-01-30): Corrected an issue where your character could sometimes get stuck in a state where they cannot use [Lava Burst] when previously having been talented into Elemental Blast.
Hotfix (2023-12-05): Damage is now reduced by 6% in PvP combat (was 15%).
Patch 10.2.0 (2023-11-07):
- Can now refresh and extend the duration of the Haste, Critical Strike, and Mastery effects to up to 130% of the base 10 second duration, but will still prefer to apply a buff that you don't already have.
- Moved to row 5 for Enhancement (was row 8) and is now a choice node with [Tempest Strikes].
Patch 10.1.0 (2023-05-02): Damage increased by 6%. Does not affect PvP combat.
Hotfix (2023-02-27): Damage increased by 6% for Elemental only. Does not apply to PvP.
Hotfix (2022-12-19): Reduced the damage of Elemental Blast by 15% in PvP combat.

Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Now available only to Elemental shamans. Duration increased from 8 to 10 seconds. Moved to the level 60 row (was 90).
Hotfix (2014-10-30): Damage has been increased by 20%.
Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Now also grants increased Spirit for Restoration Shaman, in addition to the random secondary stat. Spirit amount granted is equal to double the random secondary stat amount.
Patch 5.2.0 (2013-03-05): Now has a chance to increase the caster's Agility for Enhancement Shaman.
Hotfix (2012-10-04): Players with Elemtental or Restoration specializations no longer suffer pushback when casting Elemental Blast.
