His surname could suggest that he is from the main family of the Thunderlord clan, being related to Fenris, Garm Wolfbrother, and Omakka Wolfbrother. This would also make Durkot a cousin of Thrall.
As only thirteen Thunderlord warriors remained behind at the Dark Portal, Durkot would have to either be one of those warriors, or descend from them. Furthering the connection, they were placed under the command of Grommash Hellscream, leader of the Warsong, the clan to whom Durkot currently owes his service to.
