Bradensbrook is a Gilnean village located on the bleak coast of Val'sharah. Various homes are situated among the jagged rocks of the foreshore; the residents constantly provoked by its wildlife. The chill, howling winds from the Great Sea buffet this remote settlement.

Background

Main article: Ledger of the Sea Wolf

When the Scourge swept through Silverpine Forest during the Third War, the residents of Pyrewood Village, seeking shelter within Gilneas, found the gates of the Greymane Wall closed to them. Purchasing a ship called the Sea Wolf, many of the residents set sail for Stormwind to escape the undead. Unfortunately, a storm blew their ship off course. They sailed aimlessly through the Great Sea for several weeks before another storm caused them to shipwreck on the shores of a mysterious island, near the ancient fortress of Black Rook Hold. Since their ship was unsalvageable, and the land plentiful, they built the village of Bradensbrook and settled down.[1]

Legion

At the beginning of the third invasion of the Burning Legion, the town fell into peril as Mayor Heathrow's daughter went missing and undead spirits arose, terrorizing the residents. The town would endure and managed to fend off the undead in the area for a time. After Jarod Shadowsong returned to Val'sharah, he traveled to Brandensbrook while seeking his sister Maiev's whereabouts.[2] Although he was initially met with considerable mistrust from Mayor Heathrow,[3] he was able to gradually earn the villagers' trust after helping them fight off his former kin.[4]

Despite their success, it would be short-lived as the Legion launched their successive attacks. The first would come in the form of Imp Mother Gothol, where she would set the land as her personal imp breeding ground. Thanks to the Unseen Path, the demons were sent back to the Twisting Nether.[5] A satyr named Nanosh the Slicer later attacked the village. With an army of Black Rook Assassins at his side, he was defeated by the Council of the Black Harvest.[6] The third Legion attack came during the Assault on Val'sharah, and rather than attacking them directly, the Legion placed cups of demon blood inside their village. Anyone who drank it would be driven mad and mind-controlled by the demons, until the heroes eventually managed to free the citizens and drive the Legion back.[7]

At some point, a satyr disguised himself as a human named Maxwell Caprina and infiltrated the village. He was eventually exposed and defeated by a paladin adventurer wielding Truthguard.

Legionfall

When undead soldiers of Black Rook Hold led by Lord Erdris Thorn once more attacked Bradensbrook, Jarod returned to defend the citizens from his fallen comrades.[8][9] Alongside the adventurer, Jarod discovered that Lorgos the Resurrector was reviving Rooksguard soldiers and tricking them into thinking the people of Bradensbrook were demons. While the inquisitor and ghosts were defeated, Lord Erdris - still under the Legion's spell - vowed to raise his own army.[10][11] Later, Jarod and the adventurer, along with Callie Carrington and Granny Marl from Bradensbrook, confronted Erdris and his army atop Black Rook Hold. They eventually finished off the commander, ending the threat upon the Gilnean village.[12]

Battle for Azeroth

By the time of the Fourth War, the night elves of the neighboring Temple of Elune, including Mevris Ghostdancer, have engaged in active trade with Bradensbrook, sending and receiving supplies from each other via ships.[13]

Places

The extension of Bradensbrook, stretching southward.

The entire settlement of Bradensbrook consists of many different residencies scattered along the coast.

  • Marl's Stead is down the road from the city center. It's the main farm in Bradensbrook as it supplies the town year-round food. The ravenous undead birds from Black Rook Hold are spoiling the crop.
  • Radcliffe Landing is situated on a river that feeds into the Great Sea. Papa Radcliffe and his daughter Cecily Radcliffe live here and fish.
  • Heathrow Manor, the mayor's home, is located high up on a hill southwest of town. It is on fire, most likely due to the undead incursion.

Inhabitants

Notes and trivia

  • Though the Ledger of the Sea Wolf claims the boat can hold 'two score passengers', meaning 40, there is a substantially larger amount of villagers present in Bradensbrook across its various locations. The named NPCs alone account for over 20, not including any children that could have been born in the interim. Suspicious Villagers can number in the dozens across the fields. When coupled with the plethora of unnamed NPCs (a minimum of 7 showing up during Jarod Shadowsong's arrival), it is impossible for all of the villagers to have all gained passage from the Sea Wolf. It is unknown if the ship had others that followed them to find refuge in the cove.
  • The village has a flagpole with the Gilnean flag flying from it.
  • Unlike the citizens of Pyrewood Village, the Bradensbrook villagers are neutral to both factions.
  • The citizens of Bradensbrook were initially planned to be a reputation faction called the "Gilnean Survivors".[14][15]
    • The only known quest associated with the faction, N [103] Kill Feral Dogs, refers to the village as "Barreltown".
