Astromancy
“The heavens, in their countless stars, hold answers to earthly mysteries. Might, then, the wise, and the lucky, gaze up and find truth?”
Astromancy, also known as astrology or astronomy, is divination and fortune-telling through the studying of stars. Those who practice this art are known as astromancers or astrologers.
Astrolabes are devices used in the study of astromancy, which come in both small and large versions.[1]
Practitioners
Blood elves
Several astromancers mages can be found among the ranks of the blood elves in Netherstorm and the various wings of Tempest Keep:
High Astromancer Solarian
Grand Astromancer Capernian
Sunfury Astromancers
Sunseeker Astromages
Novice Astromancers
Astromancers
Astromancer Lords
Apprentice Star Scryers
Star Scryers
Astromancer Darnarian, while not in Tempest Keep, is a member of the Scryers.
Nightborne
The highborne of Suramar were studying the stars as early as twelve thousand years ago.[2] The nightborne kept on with their studies within the Astromancer's Rise inside the Nighthold. Among them, Star Augur Etraeus had devoted long years of research to scouring the skies of Azeroth, seeking answers to the great mysteries of the universe. His scrying has shown him unknown worlds, and the power of the Nightwell allowed him to draw upon the essence of those worlds to amplify his own powers.[3]
Humans
- One of Medivh's many areas of expertise was astronomy. He owned books with star maps of constellations of Draenor, the homeworld of the orcs.[4] Karazhan had an observatory called the Celestial Watch.
- Viktori Prism'Antras was interested in peering at the stars with a special device, as he believed that there exists a truth "beyond magic" that could explain the darkening of Duskwood.[5]
- Greymane Manor has an observatory.[6]
- The Empyrean Society count human astrologers among its ranks.
- Astromancer Arwyn

Orcs
The orcs of the Shadowmoon clan (alternate) were adepts astrologists,[7] and had always spoken the language of the stars, the earth, and the moon.[8] Fascinated with the starry sky, they believed they could glean the future from stellar movements, developing traditions and rituals centered around astrology and ancestor worship.[9] A key source of the Shadowmoon clan's power came from their understanding of the stars and their omens. For centuries, they recorded the patterns of the stars and their interpretations.[10] This expertise in astronomy eventually led to Ner'zhul awaiting a celestial event that only happened every five hundred and forty-seven years to cast his Spell of Conjuration, involving three of Draenor's constellations alongside one of its moons.[11]
Draenei
The draenei had a celestial observatory built in Shadowmoon Valley.
Mogu
Similar to how Shan Bu attempted to bend Niuzao to his will, Shan'ze Celestial Shapers in the Throne of Thunder attempted to shape the power of the August Celestials to their own purposes.
Titans
A Celestial Planetarium was installed inside Ulduar.

Nethermancy could be similar to astromancy, considering the existence of Nether Scryers, Nethermancer Sepethrea, and High Nethermancer Zerevor.
