This article contains lore taken from Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

Alonda was member of the Kirin Tor who was always looking for a fifth species of troll (her own volumes only mentioned four). She saw an opportunity to gain information about the possible fifth species when young Khadgar was chosen to be Medivh's apprentice. She requested that Khadgar scour the bestiaries of Karazhan for any information. To her disappointment, Khadgar was unable to find anything about a fifth species of troll. Medivh hinted that he did not believe there was such a thing. Convinced that she was right about the mythical fifth species, Alonda insisted on continuing her search anyway.[1]

Alonda's status is unknown.

Notes

As of the timeframe of the original World of Warcraft—several years after the events of The Last Guardian—in-universe historians and physicians generally classified trolls into four categories (forest, jungle, ice, and sand trolls), with Zandalari trolls being considered "unclassifiable". There was some debate as to how many categories were necessary, but "several notable authorities" had identified a fifth category, namely dark trolls,[2] though this was controversial due to the dark trolls' estimated low population.[3] It's not known which of these were among the four known to the Kirin Tor at the time of The Last Guardian and which one (if any of them) was Alonda's elusive fifth.
