  • Use: Coats a weapon with poison that lasts for 30 minutes.
    Each strike has a 30% chance of poisoning the enemy, reducing all healing effects used on them by 55 for 15 sec. Stacks up to 5 times on a single target. 60 charges.

Wound Poison is a poison that is purchased from a poison vendor and applied to a rogue's weapons. Every time the rogue hits with the weapon, there is a chance (modified by the speed of the weapon) of the victim being poisoned for 15 seconds. The poison will reduce all healing effects on the victim by 25%. The effect cannot stack. It can be purchased from poison vendors for 50c.

Prior to Wrath of the Lich King, Wound Poison was crafted by rogues:

Patch changes

  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Removed.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.3.0 (2011-11-29): Now reduces the target's healing received by 25%, up from 10%.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.3a (2010-11-23): Now reduce healing by 10%, down from 25%.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12):
    • Poisons no longer have levels and scale as abilities do.
    • Healing reduction reduced from 50% to 25%.
  • Wrath of the Lich King Hotfix (2010-01-07): The bonus damage rogues gain from attack power for poisons has been decreased.
  • Wrath of the Lich King Patch 3.1.0 (2009-04-14): Redesigned to have its chance to be applied based on the speed of the weapon (frequency-based).
  • Wrath of the Lich King Hotfix (2009-02-18): Wound Poison now has a PvP duration of 10 seconds.
  • Wrath of the Lich King Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14):
  • Burning Crusade Patch 2.3.0 (2007-11-13): All poisons will now enchant the weapon for 1 hour, increased from 30 minutes.
  • Burning Crusade Patch 2.1.0 (2007-05-22): Rogue poisons no longer have charges. No longer requires  [Deathweed].
  • Burning Crusade Patch 2.0.3 (2007-01-09): Now causes damage and reduces all healing by 10%, stacks up to 5 times.
  • Burning Crusade Patch 2.0.1 (2006-12-05): Icon changed to Inv misc herb 16.png
  • World of Warcraft Patch 1.11.0 (2006-06-19): Stacks up to 20.
  • World of Warcraft Patch 1.1.0 (2004-11-07): Removed facing requirement.
