History

Blood of the Highborne

WoW-novel-logo-16x62.png This section concerns content related to the Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

Vandellor adopted Liadrin after the latter's parents had been slain by Amani trolls. His passion for the Light inspired the young Liadrin, who pursued a similar path in life, eventually sharing his title.

Though elderly by the time of the Third War, Vandellor joined Liadrin and Belo'vir in the defense of Silvermoon City after Ranger General Sylvanas had been killed by the evil prince Arthas. Vandellor's great healing proved a boon to the defenders, though not enough to turn the battle around. The elves eventually evacuated the city and retreated to Quel'Danas, hoping to defend the Sunwell from the Scourge.

Vandellor provided support for King Anasterian Sunstrider after the king arrived to stop the Scourge invaders. During the battle, Belo'vir was mortally wounded by Arthas; Vandellor rushed to his friend's side, though was killed in the process, torn apart and slain by a rampaging abomination. Belo'vir, who had promised Vandellor he would protect Liadrin, teleported her safely away from the carnage shortly before succumbing to his own wounds.

Vandellor was raised as an undead thrall sometime after the battle, and Liadrin, returning to the isle with Kael'thas Sunstrider's raid, was forced to kill him. Vandellor's cruel fate on Quel'Danas was a huge blow to the priestess, and a large contributing factor to her denunciation of the Light. Claiming vengeance against the Scourge in Vandellor's name became one of Liadrin's primary goals. Liadrin looked back on him fondly as both a good mentor and father.[2]

Vandellor in life

A vision of High Priest Vandellor can now be seen alongside Anasterian Sunstrider, Grand Magister Belo'vir, and High Priestess Liadrin at Sun's Reach Sanctum on the Isle of Quel'Danas, in visions from the past during the Heritage of the Sin'dorei questline.[3]

Shadowlands

Shadowlands This section concerns content related to Shadowlands.

Upon his death, Vandellor's soul was sent to Bastion and became a kyrian. He was sought out by Salandria, ward of his own adopted daughter Liadrin, but Vandellor had given up his mortal memories and could only ponder at the nostalgia the young elf's presence stirred within him. Vandellor assisted Salandria in empowering a ranseur that might be used to slay a sinister immortal tormenting his forgotten homeland of Quel'Thalas.[4]
