Introduction
Forge of Goblinium is a fan-created raid instance concept set during the war against the Iron Horde. Much like TBC's Karazhan and Wrath's Ulduar, Forge of Goblinium is a "breather raids," or a raid zone that is not immediately tied into the expansion's story arc, while still containing elements from it. Set within a cliffside fortress in Kezan, the raid offers a somewhat nonlinear design with four wings housing twelve bosses, four of which are optional.
As the war against the Iron Horde waged across dimensional lines, the goblins of the rising Sparknozzle Cartel, led by Trade Queen Ziggzi, began a controversial endeavor that would change the cartels of the Undermine forever. Before her ascension to the throne, Ziggzi Sparknozzle explored the frigid Storm Peaks to research the Curse of Flesh and the power of the Old Gods. She was fascinated by their abilities and was disgusted that certain mortal races of Azeroth pushed away their mechanical roots. Establishing a massive foundry within a Kezan cliffside, the Sparknozzle Cartel began experimenting with Old God power in an attempt to develop a reverse Curse of Flesh, a magic that would transform flesh into machine. Success soon followed and the result was a new form of goblin, one that became more in touch with the mechanical world, one that would possess infinite knowledge as well as limitless brawn. The Sparknozzle Cartel created the Goblinium, a force that will spread across all of Azeroth if the immense forge is not shut down for good, along with its devious leader.
Description
Dungeon Journal
Carved into the mouth of a seaside cavern in Kezan, the Forge of Goblinium acts as the headquarters for the Sparknozzle Cartel. The cartel’s mysterious goblinium formula, which transforms normal goblins into enlightened, metallic beings, is developed here, an energy that is seen as a threat to Azeroth’s stability. While the cartel’s Trade Queen sees value in evolving the goblin race from flesh to steel, not all share her desires. As the war with the Iron Horde leaves much of the planet distracted, the Sparknozzle Cartel sees no better time to kick the forge into high gear.
Layout
The raid begins at the surface of the actual forge; an outdoor industrial complex set just before the forge's gates. The Sparknozzle Cartel has set up various defensive measures to ensure that the heroes do not breach the entrance. Three bosses can be fought in this wing, but only one of them is required to be defeated in order to progress further. The difficulty of the required boss, however, is slightly higher than those of the two optional encounters. In Raid Finder, this wing is called Sparknozzle Approach.
Once the gates have been breached, the raid can choose to tackle the next two wings in any order they desire. Both wings consist of three bosses, one of which is optional. Authorization keys from the wings' respective final encounters are required to progress to the final wing of the raid. The east wing consist of the laboratories of Ezzel Darkbrewer, the forge's master alchemist. As expected, the goblins' experiments with various elixirs have gone out of hand, creating rampaging abominations that are outside their control. On top of that, an Iron Horde armada has infiltrated the labs, aiming to steal Ezzel's research for their war machine. In Raid Finder, this wing is called Darkbrewer Laboratories.
On the west side of the forge is a massive robotics factory with various experimental and commercial constructs. It is here where the goblinium soldiers first awakened, and since that success, the workers here have been researching additional applications of the Old Gods' power. At the heart of the factory, Chief Engineer Coalflint, the area's overseer, works at developing an artificial titanic watcher. In Raid Finder, this wing is called Research and Destruction.
Once keys from both the Master Alchemist and Chief Engineer have been acquired, the door to the deepest bowels of the forge will open. In a confidential abyss that only the most elite of the Sparknozzle Cartel has access to, a wrathful minion of the Old Gods lies trapped, its dark energy being drained for the Sparknozzle Cartel's desires. Perched at the far end of the cavern is the office of Trade Queen Ziggzi, master of the cartel. The final three bosses are fought here in a sequential order, ending with the confrontation with the Trade Queen herself. In Raid Finder, this wing is called The Goblinium Core.
