Background
Dungeon Journal
Oggmoth, servant of N’Zoth, was captured by an army of Sparknozzle goblins and hauled back to their forge. Strapping various devices, plugs, and tubes into it, Oggmoth’s dark power was extracted from its body to create a reverse Curse of Flesh. Imprisoned in the deepest bowels of the forge, Oggmoth continues to fuel the goblinium. Mercy be upon those who allow the beast to break free from its bindings.
Description
Oggmoth is the terrifying Old God beast whose energy has been harnessed by the Sparknozzle Cartel to create the goblinium. The encounter is set in the creature's half-destroyed prison, moments after it has broken free. This very complex fight's biggest obstacle is the enrage timer and is centered around two core elements: prison defenses and the Curse of Re-flesh. The Curse is a buff/debuff that DPS need to pick up in order to deal extra damage to the boss. The Curse grows in intensity over time and there's a risk-reward to keeping the Curse on longer. If the Curse stays on too long, however, they can become temporarily, then permanently mind controlled. Cleansing Sprayers, one of three types of prison defenses, that circle the room's outer rings can remove the Curse when its intensity grows too close to comfort. Two other prison defenses assist in surviving the otherwise lethal Horror Strikes and Eldritch Vengeance. Tanks need to position the boss within the Shadow Suppressors to weaken Oggmoth's Eldrtich Vengeance, allowing the DPS to attack without taking damage. Also, tanks need to pick up special armor from the Blackfuel Armor Dispensers to withstand Horror Strikes. Oggmoth can corrupt these defenses, however, so it is up to both DPS and healers to cleanse the corruption.
Abilities
While Oggmoth may be broken free from its prison, many of the prison's defense systems remain online, all of which will assist with surviving the beast's deadly abilities.
- Horror Strikes Oggmoth's abyssal claws shred its target, dealing an extra x Shadow damage with every strike.
- Eldritch Vengeance Oggmoth's wrath corrupts its hide, dealing x% of every attack suffered back to the player as Shadow damage.
- Curse of Re-flesh Oggmoth calls down upon spheres of its blood down onto the battlefield. When touched, the player will be afflicted with the Curse of Re-flesh that grows in intensity every x seconds if not removed.
- Minor CurseIncreases damage dealt by 30% and damage received by y%.
- Lesser Curse Increases damage dealt by 60% and damage received by x%. Deals y Shadow damage every three seconds.
- Major Curse Increases damage dealt by 100% and damage received by x%. Deals y Shadow damage every two seconds and z Shadow damage to other players within t yards of the player's location.
- Superior Curse Causes the player to succumb to the control Oggmoth, attacking friendly players. The afflicted player can be shaken of the curse by breaking its Mind-eating Barrier.
- Mind-eating BarrierAbsorbs healing from all sources. Once healed for x damage, the barrier will break.
- Full Curse Causes the player to completely fall under Oggmoth's will. They will remain mind-controlled for the rest of the encounter, but can be killed. Increases damage dealt by x%.
- Corrupt Technology Oggmoth will launch its blood at the prison's defense systems, negatively altering their functions. The blood will destroy the technology permanently if not purged within x seconds.
- Prison DefensesOggmoth's prison is outfitted with the Sparknozzle Cartel's premiere defense systems. While Oggmoth destroyed most of them, a few key systems remain to aid the players.
- Cleansing Sprayers Three hanging devices rotate in clockwise and counter-clockwise directions around the outer rings of the arena, spraying restorative energy onto players who stand in their paths. The energy removes a player's Curse of Re-flesh after remaining under the spray for four straight seconds.
- Liquid CurseWhen the Curse of Re-flesh is removed, Liquid Curse will drop at the player's location, dealing x Shadow damage every y seconds to any player caught within its z yard radius. The liquid curse will remain for the entirety of the encounter.
- Curse ExhaustionAfter being cleansed, the player cannot be afflicted with Curse of Re-flesh again for x seconds.
- Corrupted SprayersIf Oggmoth corrupts the cleansing sprayers, their energy will no longer remove Curse of Re-flesh. Instead, they will deal x Shadow damage every second. After one full rotation of the battlefield, each sprayer will drop one pool of Liquid Curse.
- Shadow Suppressors Three gun-like devices are perched along the edges of the arena equidistant from one another. The suppressors will fire beams of energy across the entire battlefield that will meet at a single point. The beams reduce the damage of Oggmoth's Eldritch Vengeance by x%, increasing for every additional beam that hits the beast. Every y seconds, each suppressor will change the direction it points. The three beams will always intersect at a single point.
- Corrupted SuppressorsIf Oggmoth corrupts the suppressors, their beams will stop suppressing Eldritch Vengeance's damage. Instead, they will increase all damage dealt by Oggmoth by x%, increasing for every additional beam that hits the beast.
- Blackfuel Armor Dispenser A single armor dispenser is placed at the center of the floor. If a player opens the dispenser, they will acquire Blackfuel Armor, which reduces the damage of Oggmoth's Horror Strikes by x%. After suffering y total damage, the armor will break. Once armor is taken from the dispenser, another set won't spawn for z seconds.
- Shattered ArmorOnce a set of Blackfuel Armor has been destroyed, the user cannot acquire another set for x seconds.
- Corrupted DispensersIf Oggmoth corrupts the dispenser, it will no longer distribute Blackfuel Armor.
- Gift of the Old Gods After x minutes, Oggmoth will unleash its hidden power, permanently destroying all prison defenses and afflicting all players with Curse of Re-flesh.
