Back story

Like countless other mortals to have ever lived, Garbhan Brokenbreath is just one of many to have succumbed to the corrupt whispers and tantalizing promises of the Legion. Born deep into poverty as a child, Garbhan quickly fell prey to creatures from dark beyond that offered him a chance to live a successful life in exchange for the worgen's undying and unwavering loyalty.

Living as a poverty-stricken youngster, Garbhan wondered the rainy streets of Gilneas with very little purpose in his young and unfiltered life. Beleaguered by harrowing dreams and violent thoughts, the young worgen thought himself to be cursed or hex, outlandish as it may sound. In reality, this torment was not some errant jinx mistakenly cast on Garbhan, but the wicked and ugly whispers of the Burning Legion, seeking another victim. His transformation started slow at first; over his pre-teenager years, Garbhan naturally found himself dabbling in the arcane with no hobbies to occupy his time and no mentors to teach him right from wrong. The worgen experimented in different schools of arcana until he found what would be his calling - shadow magic. Garbhan found devious and almost sick joy in secretly practicing the forbidden arts of fel magic, knowing full well that should he be discovered, he'd be cast away as an exile from his very own people. Mischievous and without proper guidance, Garbhan spent many starry nights in isolation, calling forth black magic and the occasional lesser demon to flex his powers. After years of hardened discipline the budding warlock started to transform from a down to earth Gilnean to a full fledged sorcerer, transforming his body overtime. As such, he began to heed the callings of demonic overlords, who started pulling young Garbhan deeper into the inescapable void. After an otherworldly conference on a particularly gloomy night, Garbhan agreed to pledge allegiance to the Burning Legion. A quick cloaking spell, a trans-dimensional teleport to the broken world of Outland and the Worgen was gone from the surface of Azeroth seemingly forever.

Garbhan's magical prowess got him far inside the ranks of the Legion. Once an amateur warlock, he now steadily rose through the echelons of demonic hierarchy as an upstart, commanding the entropic fires of fel magic and summoning great demons with ease. Around the time of Garbhan's arrival the Burning Legion was attempting another invasion on Azeroth in the form of the Third War. As the bulk of the Legion's army went to invade Azeroth, the lesser of the ranks were left behind to do behind-the-scenes tasks; scouting new recruits under the name of their lord, calling for reinforcements, and more. Of them included Garbhan and the rest of the apprentices who were learning from their demonic masters who hid in far away places. However, it didn't take a genius to realize the monstrous bag of horrors that true war really was - and if it's one thing the Burning Legion did well, it was wage war.

A surprise to himself the most, Garbhan quickly realized that this hell was not the life for him and began to wake to his real senses, nearly as if he had forgotten it was possible to do so in the first place. Seeing the effects of the Third War firsthand produced a terrifying moment of clarity for the worgen, and in secret shame, Garbhan retreated from the Legion for good.

Garbhan spent the next several years roaming the wastes of Outland and occasionally traveling into the Twisting Nether to broaden is demonic knowledge, his thirst for information now being the only thing he lived for. His renown throughout the local reaches of the Great Dark were nothing to the sickness and hatred he felt towards the Burning Legion. Unsurprisingly, many others throughout the universe harbored as much love for the Legion as Garbhan did. Within time, the worgen had adopted a new name, a new path, a new relationship with life, as he founded the Rebellion and figured out where his place in life was.

The Mak'thuun Rebellion

Residing in the now desolate and defunct region of modern day Outland, the Mak'thuun Rebellion is a defiant group of recalcitrant and "redeemed" demons that have cut their ties to the Burning Legion for one reason or another. Led by upstart warlock Garbhan Brokenbreath, the Rebellion has wrestled control of the Path of Glory from invading demon forces, making the Stair of Destiny a natural safe haven for travelers and adventurers alike. For now, they call Hellfire Peninsula their home, using the bleak red plains and rocky foothills as their staging grounds.

The Rebellion

Like the stars in the sky, the demons of the universe are vast and innumerable. Therefore, it's no stretch to imagine that once in a great while, a demon will stake a claim for themselves by honing their own free will and coming into their own. The Mak'thuun Rebellion consists of such demons, dangerous free-thinkers and independent individuals who've broken away from the hivemind that consumes the Burning Legion.
