Adoriae Merryweather (commonly known as just "Merryweather") is a Blood Elf, loyal to the Horde. She announces herself as an Engineer who occasionally does "problem solving" for the Horde to make money. She has a relaxed personality and a generally good nature, but has been known to be tense or businesslike when the situation calls for it. For several months, she had been transformed into a Goblin due to an dimensional ripper malfunction. During this time, she went by the alias, "Merry Brightspark".

Description

This information is immediately observable given the ability to sense it.

Merryweather is of average height for an adult elven woman. She has a skinny build and tanned complexion, though it is difficult to tell if either of these are normal traits, or the result of her lifestyle. Her eyes exhibit the normal green glow that is the result of her race's reliance on fel energy during the years they were deprived of the Sunwell's radiance. Her hair is black and worn in the "boar tails" style. This gives her an oddly playful appearance. Her "neutral" expression is a pleasant one, as if her lips formed into a permanent smile. Due to her time as a Goblin, she occasionally exhibits Goblin tics.

Public Records / Rumors

This section contains information that either Merryweather has freely divulged, has been recorded in public records, or are rumors. Characters may come across this information through gossip or research.

Merryweather is currently employed by Megabucks Industries, a Goblin-run company owned by Fink Megabucks. She was hired during her time as a Goblin, and her position is "Data Collections Manager". Despite the title, it's unclear what she actually does.

Merryweather (Supposedly) a few days after appearing at Light's Hope. Taken with a cheap Goblin camera.

Shortly after the Avengers of Hyjal invaded Firelands, Merryweather appeared, naked, at Light's Hope Chapel. She claimed this was the result of a transported malfunction.

Merryweather was once married and had two sons. All of them died over the course of the three great wars. Her husband is buried in Fairbreeze Village, and her younger son is buried in Dalaran. Her older son's body was never recovered.

After her last son died, she deserted Garithos's army, and wandered the wandered Azeroth for a long time afterwards.

She is banned from operating experimental equipment in Orgrimmar, Silvermoon City, and Thunderbluff.

Merryweather as a Goblin.

Merryweather spent several months as a Goblin due to a Dimensional Ripper malfunction. During this time, she used an alias and a fake background. Why she did this is unknown.

Silvermoon City records indicate that she used to travel there frequently, but as of late, doesn't do so as much.

The Steamwheedle Cartel once had Merryweather on their Kill On Sight list, after an incident involving the Bloodsail Buccaneers.

As a Goblin, she was interviewed by a record keeper of the Bilgewater Cartel. It can be assumed that at least part of it is a fabrication. (Interview)

Shortly after the revamped Darkmoon Faire opened, she was seen giving away sacks of Simple Flour to anyone who needed it. It seems that one of the carnies was asking visitors to batter and fry frogs for him. A key ingredient of the batter is flour, and she was helping others to obtain said ingredient.

She is known among Horde and Horde-friendly battlefield commanders as having a reputation as a "problem solver". They are silent about what kinds of problems she solves.

According to witnesses, she never takes off her goggles. Because of this, there is some doubt that the woman in the grainy photo is her.

Some people, particularly the elite of Silvermoon City, think she is stone-cold crazy. Non-elves tend to think she's a normal elf.

Skills and Abilities

Engineering

Merryweather is an engineer, first and foremost. While it is not her profession (she makes very little money from it), she devotes most of her time to it. She delights in the creativity and creation involved, and most of her abilities come from devices that she has built, some that she even designed herself:

  • Stealth Generator - This is an "improvement" on the more common Gnomish Cloaking Device. It is capable of generating it's field for a long period of time, but with a trade off: the device does not grant full invisibility. Merryweather can still be spotted with the device active. Used with a bit of common sense and deception, however, and Merryweather can use it to hide even without cover.
  • Nitro Boosts - Common knowledge among Engineers, these use rockets to increase movement speed. They are prone to failure, however.
  • Synapse Springs - Also common knowledge among Engineers, Merryweather has slightly modified these. Rather than occasionally boosting her reaction speed greatly, they increase her reaction speed moderately, but constantly.
  • Mini-Rocket Launcher - Merryweather used a customized launcher until it broke down. She has yet to get around to repairing it.
  • Flexweave Underlay - Another common tinker, this allows Merryweather to use her cloak as a temporary parachute.
  • Emergency Transporter - This device has sensors attached to the chest. In the event that Merryweather's heart rate drops abnormally low (for instance, if she is rendered unconscious), it transports her to safety. It is designed to resemble a bomb in hopes that it will scare off anyone who might have injured Merryweather.
  • Other Miscellaneous Devices - Merryweather has numerous other small devices, but they are mainly used to notify her of various events.

Problem Solver

Merryweather is a "problem solver" for the Horde, which commonly means that she's an assassin. This is what pays the bills, as she makes next to no money off her engineering hobby. While not a soldier (she makes a distinction), she typically only goes after "military targets" (another distinction), using her engineering devices to allow her to get to her target without detection, and to escape afterwards, also (hopefully) without detection.

  • Sneaker - While not particularly skilled, Merryweather is very quiet when she wants to be. Her devices are designed to operate quietly, and her equipment is securely rigged to prevent unwanted noises. Merryweather is a bit clumsy, though, and has been known to trip and fall right in front of an enemy.
  • Poisons - Merryweather employs various poisons, and this is the primary method by which she takes down her targets. Whether the poison is in food or drink or on her blade, it is fast-acting and efficient. Merryweather possesses antidotes to her poisons, and has consumed her own poisoned food and drink to lure a target into a false sense of security.
  • Traps - Merryweather can set up traps on a route she expects the target to take. These traps can vary in design and intent, but if the intention is to kill the target, one can expect them to be explosive.
  • Combat - Merryweather isn't particularly skilled in melee fighting, but her devices and poisons more than make up for this. If she can catch a person off guard, she can be formidable. However, in a "fair" fight, or a fight where the opponent has recovered from ambush, she is likely to lose and will try to escape.

Character

Simply, Merryweather is True Neutral. In detail, she is largely apathetic to needs and desires of others, neither caring enough to help them, nor caring enough to hurt them. Rules and regulation mean little to her, but she is not without some measure of morals, and a constant is her loyalty to the Horde.

Money speaks to Merryweather. Money allows her to repair her equipment, purchase poisons for her blades, and supplies for her engineering. Effectively, money allows her to keep doing what she does. Money isn't the only thing, though, and Merryweather will accept many different forms of payment, from raw materials to services rendered. She is not keen on hurting people for payment alone, and will generally only accept "military targets". That's not to say she isn't greedy, though. It's just that while others are after money, Merry is after something else....

Merryweather travels to the cities often to relax. She singles out specific people to talk to, but does not reject people who walk up to speak to her. She has been observed to be nervous when the center of attention, and does not like people touching her too much.
