Adding Maps
Would anyone know how to add other maps? For example, Tirisfal Glades is missing [61, 60] being the base of the Zepplin north of Undercity. Sanderdolphin 18:06, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- Tirisfal Glades coords tooltip works for me. Dustwallow Marsh doesn't tho, [71, 51] . -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:07 AM PST 12 Jan 2008
- All the map thumbs appear to be listed at User:Pcj/coords.js. I checked Dustwallow Marsh and it should be good. Not sure why it isn't working. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:11 AM PST 12 Jan 2008
- Oh wait it's working now that I looked at the 300px thumb. Maybe the server expires thumbs and you need to refresh them locally? Don't really understand how it works. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:13 AM PST 12 Jan 2008
- User:Pcj/Zone maps automatically generates all the proper thumbnails when you visit it, if any start disappearing, open that page up. --Pcj (T •C ) 20:53, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've had a lot of the graphics fail to load consistently. When that happens, refreshing the page usually fills them in. I rarely have to refresh twice. Occasionally, I have to follow a link to a graphic to get it to cache, then the page loads just fine.
- This problem with graphics not loading seems to have started within the last few months.Madkaugh (talk) 05:05, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Can we get instance maps added? I'd like to add some coordinates for NPCs in larger instances. -- ScratchMonkey (talk) 22:15, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Usage with place names
How can I use this in conjunction with a place name? I'd like to add coords to the page for Tower of Althalaxx. - ScratchMonkey (talk) 00:10, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know where it is on the map, but something like {{co|50|30|Darkshore}}: [50, 30] . --Pcj (T •C ) 01:06, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- No, I mean stylistically, how should it be incorporated on a page like that? There's already a thumbnail map at the bottom, apparently another template, but it has no provision for placing coordinate dots. - ScratchMonkey (talk) 05:33, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- I found the solution: Template:Zone Map. See Patch of Elemental Water for example usage. - ScratchMonkey (talk) 20:47, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

All Thumbs and Maps used
See Template:Coords/Maps transcluded below. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 3:23 PM PST 23 Apr 2008
I like this idea!
I've got a coordinate mod, and as such, coordinates are generally easier for me to use than descriptions. Coordinates are in a standard format, whereas descriptions are not. Plus, not everything has a description of how to get to it - a lot of the trainers, for example. Not everything has coordinates either, but I'm adding them for the trainers as I use them. Resized zones
I saw the edit to the template and think it might need the same thing done for EPL, due to a note in the Gatherer addon's change log about both SW and EPL changing size. -- ScratchMonkey (talk) 23:17, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Darnassus broken
It's because the icons are misspelled as "Darnassis." I'm not sure what the best way is to correct this, so I'm hoping someone else will. -Howbizr (talk) 05:12, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
- This is a known issue, because the maps were taken directly from the WoW resource files where it is also misspelled. Since a user would use "Darnassus" in the template and it works, there is no reason to fix the misspelling. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 4:41 PM PST 11 Feb 2009
- Darnassus [50, 50] is definitely not working. Even after I added File:WorldMap-Darnassus.jpg and added a redirect to File:WorldMap-Darnassis.jpg. Any ideas? Howbizr(t·c) 4:08 PM, 21 Jul 2009 (EDT)
- Reverted your blind change and fixed the actual problem. --Pcj (T •C ) 20:32, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- I fixed a clear spelling error, the template is still broken ([50, 50] ), so what exactly did you fix? Howbizr(t·c) 4:39 PM, 21 Jul 2009 (EDT)
- Image needs to reside at original spelling. Template will be broken for a few hours until the JavaScript cache (server-side) catches up. --Pcj (T •C ) 20:41, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Is it possible to (a) upload the duplicated copy of the image with the right spelling, (b) change the code to use the correctly-spelled one, (c) point any other references to the correct one, then (d) delete the old one when it's all said and done, and the cache is updated? I know how to do most of that, minus the protected templates/Javascript. Howbizr(t·c) 5:00 PM, 21 Jul 2009 (EDT)

Coord
I see a lot of {{coord|...}} rather than {{co|...}}, especially in the tooltips. Is this deprecated? Should I change instances of {{coord|...}} to {{co|...}} when I see them? Madkaugh (talk) 05:12, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Umm... {{co}} is a redirect to {{coords}}, so I think you have it the wrong way around. You can leave {{co}}, but if you feel the need to make it correct, change it to {{coords}}. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 4:40 PM PST 11 Feb 2009
- Belated thanks for the guidance. Madkaugh (talk) 02:23, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Instance maps
I'm having problems using the new maps. For example, Naxxramas [50, 50] . Howbizr(t·c) 7:56 PM, 19 Jul 2009 (EDT)
- What new maps? --Pcj (T •C ) 21:13, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- Remember when they added maps for some of the newer instances, like Naxx. How do I make that work?
{{co|50|50|Naxxramas}}
seems intuitive but it doesn't work. Howbizr(t·c) 11:19 PM, 20 Jul 2009 (EDT)- Someone added the maps but neglected to tell me. The "new maps" are not yet supported. --Pcj (T •C ) 03:26, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Simple instance maps are now supported (those instances with one map for the entire instance). I am going to have to figure out how to reference the multi-map instances. --Pcj (T •C ) 03:50, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Remember when they added maps for some of the newer instances, like Naxx. How do I make that work?
- Instead of a new paramater (since not all instances have multi-maps) cant we just call the main map Ulduar - the next one Ulduar1 and such ?
Thumbnail | Image | Namve variation |
---|---|---|
300px-InstanceMap-Ulduar.jpg | File:InstanceMap-Ulduar.jpg | Ulduar |
300px-InstanceMap-Ulduar1.jpg | File:InstanceMap-Ulduar1.jpg | Ulduar1 - linked to Ulduar name |
300px-InstanceMap-Ulduar2.jpg | File:InstanceMap-Ulduar2.jpg | Ulduar2 - linked to Ulduar name |
300px-InstanceMap-Ulduar3.jpg | File:InstanceMap-Ulduar3.jpg | Ulduar3 - linked to Ulduar name |
300px-InstanceMap-Ulduar4.jpg | File:InstanceMap-Ulduar4.jpg | Ulduar4 - linked to Ulduar name |
300px-InstanceMap-Ulduar5.jpg | File:InstanceMap-Ulduar5.jpg | Ulduar5 - linked to Ulduar name |
and just use the {{coords/dev|<50>|<50>|<Ulduar2>}} setting ? (I would think that would be less re-programing.) -- (M o r p h | C | T ) 21:59, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe I said that wrong - Make each map section a single instance map and make redirect pages for Ulduar1, Ulduar2, Ulduar3, Ulduar4, Ulduar5, to Ulduar or Ulduar (instance) so that when they click on the name it works normaly - that way features work fine - just like any other single instance map -- (M o r p h | C | T ) 22:23, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Now I really don't understand. Why would you need redirects - there are multiple maps that are all separate. Howbizr(t·c) 6:25 PM, 21 Jul 2009 (EDT)
- The redirects were because as Pcj said the link would show Ulduar1, Ulduar2, Ulduar3, Ulduar4 or Ulduar5 -- and if you clicked on them they would go to the Non-Existant Red-linked pages - the redirects would then take you to Ulduar - but it's a moot point now -- (M o r p h | C | T ) 22:38, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Uh, no. We aren't creating otherwise useless redirects to hack around a simple programming change (also it would still display Ulduar5 as the link name if we did a redirect). It will use 1 as the default, the additional parameter will override. --Pcj (T •C ) 22:26, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Still having problems with Naxx
These still don't work for me. I assume they were supposed to since they were added to the doc. Howbizr(t·c) 5:51 PM, 28 Jul 2009 (EDT)
- {{Coords|30|30|Naxxramas}} -> [30, 30]
- {{co|30|30|Naxxramas|1}} -> [30, 30]
- {{co|30|30|Naxxramas|5}} -> [30, 30]
- The JavaScript is rolling through the cache now. Give it a few hours. --Pcj (T •C ) 21:52, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Coord template bug with overlapping
The problem can be seen in Orgrimmar article. There are two places where the template is used: beginning of the article and infobox. Coords in the beginning works fine but coords in infobox glitches: not working in IE8 at all, flickering in FF3.5 and causes crash in Opera 10. I believe it happens due to overlapping of link and tooltip. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fairax nme (talk · contr). 08:11, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
- It only sort of works in Chrome. I would agree that it needs fixed, but I don't have the skill to fix it, so I'm not sure it will be. Howbizr(t·c) 3:38 PM, 24 Sep 2009 (EDT)
Major changes
I moved most of the work from JavaScript to the template, this should make it more manageable and reduce load times and DNS queries. I moved the exception/map naming standardization list to Template:Coords/Naming. Maps are "WorldMap" unless provided for by exception at Template:Coords/Maps, where sections are now also introduced. --Pcj (T •C ) 00:14, April 5, 2010 (UTC)
- Not sure if it's a related bug, but in Fx 3.6.4 on Vista the maps are inside the boundaries of the background div on the top, left, and bottom, but they overflow on the right. --Sky (t · c · w) 02:48, April 5, 2010 (UTC)
Missing Maps
Many maps still seem to be not working with this template, for example, Ragefire Chasm. Is it possible for somebody to make them work? :) --Grynd (talk) 20:50, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Hillsbrad Foothills
Actually the template points to the old picture map instead the new one. --Petrovic (talk) 14:29, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
More maps
Possible to add support for starting areas maps like Northshire Valley? --Mordecay (talk) 13:53, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
- It's just a matter of using the right name. Xporc (talk) 12:24, 16 December 2018 (UTC)
Space
can this have a non-breaking space instead of a regular one? it looks pretty weird when coords wind up like this: [51.8,
84.0]
thanks, —Eithris (talk) 04:31, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
Darkshore
Tried this [56, 26] [56, 26] It's the same thing, different zone. Add support for Darkshore. -- Mordecay (talk) 13:30, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
- Added Darkshore redirect; should be good now. Still a big project of mine working on to overhaul. — Surafbrov T / C 15:57, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
