Access?

  • How does one access this area? is it only through the timbermaw tunnel's in Felwood? or is there another path?--A Pickering (talk) 11:01, January 21, 2010 (UTC)
  • If you are a druid then you should have a teleport spell, if not, then yes unless the Lunar Festival is taking place, then there is an NPC you can talk to to go there. Cindrah (talk) 11:21, January 21, 2010 (UTC)
You're thinking of Moonglade, Cindra. Yes, the only way to reach Winterspring is through Timbermaw Hold. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 19:04, January 21, 2010 (UTC)

I thought I'd have to fight my way through all those Timbermaw's. Wasn't looking forward to that. So relieved when I discovered quests to make them friendly to you.--A Pickering (talk) 21:00, January 21, 2010 (UTC)

They actually stop killing you at Unfriendly, though they won't talk to you until Neutral. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 21:17, January 21, 2010 (UTC)

Weather

For what's worth, World of Warcraft: Chronicle Volume 3 says that "Tyrande trekked across Hyjal and into the snowy hills of Winterspring in order to visit the underground barrow dens where the other druids slept." In Warcraft III, the area isn't snowy at all. --Mordecay (talk) 13:39, 4 July 2018 (UTC)

Yep, it's like "The adventurers crossed through the snowy mountains of Alterac", so that means it is always snowy there? I mean, there's no representation whatsoever of the seasons in WoW and Winterspring is a valley high up the mountain near the summit so it isn't that crazy that it snows there a lot. But as represented in Warcraft III, it seems it isn't always. And being called "Winterspring", if it is always winter there, then why the spring part? (probable name origin explained below) At least in Hyjal they tell us that Nordrassil kind of emanates energies that make the climate pleasant even though it is a mountain peak. :/ --Ryon21 (talk) 14:01, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
I think the spring part refers to the hot springs and not the season. PeterWind (talk) 23:18, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
Yep. For what it's worth, in the Russian translation, "Winterspring" is translated as "winter springs [sources of water]". - Linneris (talk) 07:18, 5 July 2018 (UTC)
Interesting. At least we know where the name probably comes. In Spanish and French it translates to "Cradle of Winter". --Ryon21 (talk) 09:42, 5 July 2018 (UTC)

What's up with the old map?

What is up with the old map before cataclysm? What is there red on the left of the zone? Why is the ocean purpleish-blue? And why is Mount Hyjal there when it isn't accessible at that time? Anyways, I'm glad they improved the map. --Mew! 04:34, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

imo most pre-cata maps had a very "this is an actual piece of parchment, drawn by a person who lives on azeroth" vibe, and i would guess the weird high-saturation colors were meant to play into that by making the maps look old. probably explains why hyjal is written, as well. even if players weren't meant to get in, it still existed and a cartographer would still draw it —Eithris (talk) 06:50, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
