Talk:Patch 3.1.0

I understand the part saying mounts will be able to swim, crazy but okay, but what does dual class specialization mean? Does it mean we will be able to invest our talent points "twice" into our talent trees and switch between them? Rolandius (talk - contr) 12:32, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes that's correct. You will have 2 sets of action bars, talent trees, glyphs and gear. Then you can switch between them while NOT in combat. Not sure if this will have a cooldown. Also read that in capitals it will be free. In the wild you'll need a reagent. -- 13:41, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Okay sounds interesting. The switching between 2 sets of gear though is a maybe only as of now? Rolandius (talk - contr) 02:57, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- The way I read what the game designers were saying, is they could possibly implement an ItemRack- or Outfitter-like feature into WoW in the future, but it's very unlikely to be in the initial release of dual specs. So yes - you'll have to switch gear on your own for now, but at least you won't have to pull up a talent template in a browser, run over to the inscription trainer to re-glyph - all that will be automated. -Howbizr (talk) 23:55, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- On the PTR server the Gear Manager has slot for 10 groups - you click on a slot and then click the Add button - You name it and pick a icon for the gear set - and put in the gear you want for that set as well as glyphs - you can then drag the Icon for the Set to the action bar ( so you can keybind it) or click on it to swith gears - there is no AUTO switching of gear at the present time -- (<span="help title=Morph>M o r p h | <span="help title=Morph_Contribution(s)_to_this_Wiki>C | <span="help title=Morph_Discussion_Page>T) 03:50, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

- The part about ground mounts being allowed to swim is not so "crazy." Most animals are fine swimmers, including horses, elephants, and cats. Have you never watched the Discovery channel?--ClemSnide (talk) 02:36, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Ok quick question. Why was the priest talent [Power Word: Barrier] removed from this page? It initally was on here but was removed. It it not in PTR? I had really been looking forward to that new ability, and I am just a bit worried as to why it was removed. However, on the page [Power Word: Barrier], it does, in fact, still list the release as being patch 3.1. I do not use PTR, so would anyone who does use PTR please clear that up for me? Zzzach467 (talk) 22:07, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- If you read the blue posts on the Barrier page, though, you'll see that it's been pulled for the time being. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:55, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Ground mounts
Where exactly does the info about ground mounts not dismounting in water come from? I've heard of it before but where has it been confirmed by Blizzard? Waniou (talk) 01:54, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- It was officially revealed by Blizzard on a QA Panel at BlizzCon 2008, October 11, check what it says at 1:44 PM: WoWInsider Live from BlizzCon Q&A -- 09:01, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
1:43PM Q: Can we ride in dungeons?
1:44PM A: BlizzCon exclusive: In the first content patch following Wrath, All Ground Mounts will swim in water.
- Lets just hope they remember to do this. SDK (talk) 11:54, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- 3.1 will be in the PTR any day now, possibly this weekend, so we'll have confirmation soon. -Howbizr (talk) 15:55, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- They remembered it. 3.1 PTR went up couple hours ago w/ this change in it. They even specified that flying mounts will still dismount upon entry into water.SDK (talk) 09:38, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

- great great but does anybody have any information about speed? like... our skeletal horses(!) and... mercanostriders!? will be able to move at 50% of the mount speed or what? Azahel (talk) 19:08, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- at present time the mounts you get from the Argent Tournament and such are the same speed as your epic land mounts (280 speed) - but supposedly the new Proto Drakes that you get from the Achievements will be (310) speed -- (<span="help title=Morph>M o r p h | <span="help title=Morph_Contribution(s)_to_this_Wiki>C | <span="help title=Morph_Discussion_Page>T) 03:50, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Release date
It's too early to put in the article, but since this patch contains Noble Garden achievements, that impacts the date. The official calendar still has the Noble Garden event scheduled for April 12th, 2009, although when Patch 3.1.0 is released, it will be transformed into a week long event.
There have been un-cited claims that Noble Garden itself will simply be moved, if the rest of the patch content isn't ready in time, but we should be on the lookout for blueposts on Noble Garden, which may be forced to give information about the release date of the patch. -Howbizr (talk) 19:47, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- If the testing phase becomes too lengthy, the Noblegarden event will be postponed. Source by blue: WoW US Forums -- 22:28, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- I am not sure if you can guess the release date by how much Background Downloader lets you download, but so far it has let me get 355 MB out of 555 MB of the patch. Rolandius (talk - contr) 01:47, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- You must have had a problem or were interupted or something - becasue I have recieved 555 MB from the Background Downloader so far -- (<span="help title=Morph>M o r p h | <span="help title=Morph_Contribution(s)_to_this_Wiki>C | <span="help title=Morph_Discussion_Page>T) 03:50, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- Really? Mine downloads for awhile, but then stalls, and I have to restart it again for it to continue downloading. Ah well, I guess even when you get the whole thing we can't use the new stuff in the patch until "patch day". Rolandius (talk - contr) 03:59, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

- The whole point of the 555MB you've already downloaded is that's 555MB you don't have to fetch on patch day. [[Patch mirrors#3.1.0 PRELOAD]]. --k_d3 04:16, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ah well, my Background Downloader is not going past 66% for now. Rolandius (talk - contr) 05:51, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- As long as we don't have an official source, we shouldn't post a release date anyway. We're not a blog or some other fansite, but a wiki. ;)--Iggey (talk) 18:09, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm having difficulty figuring out how to phrase this appropriately on the main page, but here's the low down if anyone else wants to give it a shot:
- Noble Garden was scheduled for April 12, on the official in game calendar
- Blizz annouced Noble Garden changes will be released with Ulduar in Patch 3.1, even if that means Noble Garden gets pushed back due to Ulduar or other patch problems
- The last Tuesday before April 12 was April 7
- Blizz just announced that Noble Garden will be moved to a future date.
- For those of you, like myself, working on Glory of the Raider (or [Glory of the Raider (25 player)]), you have one extra week (maybe more, but I wouldn't count on it) to make attempts at The Twilight Zone and The Undying, or any other achievements you are missing, before the mounts are removed in 3.1. This is especially relevant to raiders since some achievements cannot be completed in the same raid lock out period.

Many players may have noticed that Noblegarden has been removed from the in-game calendar. While the event is not being removed from the game, it is being delayed slightly and will not occur as originally scheduled on April, 12. We will be implementing this event at a future date, however.
[...]
We do intend to give a heads-up on when the end of the Arena Season is going to end and that should give you a good idea on when the patch will come out, but we're not at the point of wanting to divulge more about the release date for the patch at this time. We're still doing a little bug dance and squishing a few more before we decide it's ready to have its coming out party.

Live?
It sure isn't live here at the moment. Mine is still 3.0.9. Rolandius (talk - contr) 04:21, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- The 14th is tomorrow in the US (amazing because Tuesdays are also patch days in the US). It is already available on Blizzard's servers. --Pcj (T •C ) 04:25, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Mass talent extinction
This must be the most talents removed in a single patch ever. Alot of {{removedfromgame}} tags will need to get added.--Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11:58 PM PST 13 Apr 2009

Inscription
A warning to anyone who's been holding onto their Grand Master Inscription for the three recipes: It's a lie. According to the patch notes,
- Players will now learn 3 recipes the very first time they perform Northrend Inscription Research. This does not apply to players who have already discovered recipes from Northrend Inscription Research (sorry).
However, I just recently learned Northrend Inscription Research after attaining 385 skill, and got a grand total of one recipe out of it. People who want to maximize their recipes may want to wait on levelling up their Inscribers until Blizzard matches reality with their patch notes. (Or, as we found out from the Cooking recipe debacle, just removes the bonus and claims they never intended it to work that way.)--ClemSnide (talk) 02:47, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
