Hearthstone wiki

Hey all. I've been asked to point out that we've got a sister wiki for Hearthstone on Gamepedia. (We're on Gamepedia too, even though we have our own domain.) If any of you want to help get that wiki off the ground, please feel free to edit over there too! Thanks for being so quick to get this article up and running! --k_d3 04:12, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft → Hearthstone

In November 2016 Hearthstone underwent a rebranding that dropped "Heroes of Warcraft" from the title (see BlizzardWatch, BlizzPro) and the moderators for the game's subreddit were specifically asked to change the subreddit logo from "Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft" to just "Hearthstone" (source). The Hearthstone wiki has already been (mostly) updated to reflect this change, but I'm not sure how it should be handled on Wowpedia. It's probably too tedious to go through and change all the links to this page to something like "Hearthstone (game)", so I'm thinking it might be best to leave this page at its current name, even though it's now technically outdated, but maybe replace the logo image with the new, "Heroes of Warcraft"-less version and change the intro to "Hearthstone, formerly known as Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft ...". I'm not sure about moving pages like Hearthstone: Mean Streets of Gadgetzan to just "Hearthstone: Mean Streets of Gadgetzan", or maybe just straight up "Mean Streets of Gadgetzan", which might actually be more accurate to the official nomenclature. (For example, I don't think I've ever seen the Curse of Naxxramas adventure be officially referred to as "Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft: Curse of Naxxramas" anywhere, only "Curse of Naxxramas" with the sub-title "A Hearthstone Adventure". Correct me if I'm wrong on this.) Ultimately I don't really have any clue as to how to handle this, but I thought I'd point it out. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male.gif DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 11:59, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

I'd agree with moving everything to simply "Hearthstone", but "Heartstone (game)" isn't a very nice looking pagename ;_; Xporc (talk) 13:13, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
I'd say that if the game's name is now simply Hearthstone, then that's what it should be here. Hearthstone (video game)? Alternatively we can move the game to  [Hearthstone] and the item to Hearthstone (item). - Linneris (talk) 08:35, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
I don't have too strong an opinion on this, but I think I'd prefer the ingame item to remain at  [Hearthstone], seeing as the game is named after the item, even if there is probably more focus on the game. PeterWind (talk) 08:55, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
If the page is going to change, "Hearthstone (game)" is better than "Hearthstone (video game)" since the conceit is that it exists as a board game within the Warcraft universe. --Aquamonkeyeg (talk) 13:48, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
I'm OK with moving it to "Hearthstone (game)" even though I still wish another way existed. Xporc (talk) 14:05, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
I too will throw my vote in behind "Hearthstone (game)". -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 17:33, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
So I'm guessing in that case we'll move all of the expansions and adventures to "Hearthstone: Blackrock Mountain", "Hearthstone: The Grand Tournament", etc.? -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male.gif DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 17:35, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
It'll be a lot of work, but it doesn't have to be done in a single day by a single person. Creating redirects and updating the templates would be enough in the first place! Xporc (talk) 17:44, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

Everyone still OK with the move? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xporc (talk · contr).

To "Hearthstone (game)"? Yeah, it's way overdue at this point, I'd say. Should probably keep the Heroes of Warcraft name as a redirect, though. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male.gif DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 12:13, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
What the Troll says. --Mordecay (talk) 12:54, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
Now you guys feel free to go update all the pages text :D Xporc (talk) 13:54, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Separate Lore Section?

So I rolled back my edits, but I was wondering - should there be a third Hearthstone article? As in, to represent the cardgame in-universe? There's a lore section in this article that partly covers it, but the result is that Hearthstone's canon status is lumped together with its in-universe status. Maybe something like "Hearthstone (tavern game)," or "Hearthstone (lore)," to have an article for the game, while the lore section on this page deals with the canon stuff.Hawki (talk) 22:48, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

Probably. "Hearthstone (in-universe game)" would be the most straightforward name, I think. "Hearthstone (lore)" sounds to me like it would be an article talking about the digital card game's lore (alternatively lore about the objects called hearthstones), and "(tavern game)" is similarly unclear what it refers to at a glance since the digital game is also one that takes place in a tavern (the Tavern specifically). -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male.gif DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 05:37, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
