Beta State

In the Thottbot Beta Server [1] we can read "Can only be used when not in combat" so it would be impossible to use this cast to escape from Combat or to free the druid of Polymorph and Movement Impairing effects.--OLi 06:27, 18 October 2006 (EDT)

It's been confirmed that this will not be usable in combat so it seems to me that it will not be a very effective way to defeat poly/movement impairing effects usually. Might want to change the tips and tactics portion. Anyone happen to know if it's poosible to get out of combat while you have a target under the effects of [Cyclone]? If it is, then druids may have something like a rogue's [Gouge] for escaping. Jaidan 14:48, 13 November 2006 (EST)

Yesterday I saw a level 68 druid root a warrior, run for a bit and then fly and hover a bit above the warrior. I'm guessing the same will be possible with Cyclone. Lime148 17:03, 13 November 2006 (EST)

Skip Epic Ground?

I see from the Flight Form article that lvl 225 riding is free for druids upon completion of the relevant quest. Can anyone confirm that completion of this quest would take me from Riding 75 to Riding 225? Or is the epic-ground level riding skill (150) required in some way? If you can skip straight to 225, it would be great news to powerlevellers that they can save 540g by waiting until 68 to get both the epic mount and flight form at once.

must have riding of 150 (540G) to buy the flight form, which then gives you riding 225. --Dga 22:23, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

This has been on the page since before you asked: "For the first rank of Flight Form, you will require Riding (150). Riding (150) is also required to learn Riding (225) for a normal flying mount. Flying ground form?

While the flight form doesn't run along the ground, it does seem to act as a ground mount at zero altitude. If you fly down and touch the ground, you bounce up to standard flying beastie height, and follow the terrain. This seems to allow movement affecting effects to apply. Frex, if you do the apex relic 'Simon Says' game all the way to the end (10 repetitions, rather than just the 8 to get the emanations to satisfy the Ogri'la daily quest in Blade's Edge) you get a 15% movement buff. While flying, I move at normal speed, but if I go down to zero altitude, I move faster. Hit the spacebar to bounce upward, and slow down.

It's also possible to fall off of things in flight form while doing this. If I hit a hill in my path, I go into terrain following, and will fall down the other side of it if it's steep enough. I have fallen all the way to the bottom of a mountain like this, but didn't take any falling damage.

You do take falling damage after sliding down steep slopes, in your case you probably had a moment of free-fall, prompting your flight form to, er, fly again ~ Nathanyel 11:18, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Announcements, moved from article

• On 02/06/2007, Tseric has announced in the official worldofwarcraft.com forums that they are developing an Epic Flight Form for druids.
  • Tseric: "An epic quest line will be going into an upcoming patch which will grant Druids an additional flying form with increased stats. The epic flying form will move at the epic rate of 280%, but basically fall under the same conditions as the previous flight form (i.e. can't run on the ground). However, the first prerequisite of the quest will require the epic flying mount riding skill, so it would not be a loss to Druids if they wish to purchase their epic flying mount skill now or in the near future. Obviously, one could then diversify their epic mounts beyond the Druid's casted epic form if they choose."
  • There was a hoax containing photo shopped pictures of an extremely trade good heavy quest chain. This has been confirmed to be false.
• Blizzard has announced that in patch 2.1 epic flight form will be released:

"The Druid Epic flight form will be available through a series of quests, similar to the Warlock and Paladin Epic mount quests before it. This quest series will also open up a new boss in Sethekk Halls, and ultimately to the epic flight form."

Training

I assume that Flight Form does not have to be relearned at 77 to fly in Northrend (instead the druid needs to train Cold Weather Flying). Please correct if I was wrong. -- Harveydrone 19:35, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
