Why do they try to kill him, but not Ragnaros? That's kinda stupid they're discriminating against frost and not fire.  IconSmall HighElf Male.gif Mr.X8 Talk Contribs 03:25, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

The Twilight Cult are trying to summon him in order to have him battle Ragnaros and bring about annihilation. The Earthen Ring catches wind of this and we summon Ahune ahead of the Cult in order to stave off annihilation. The quest text is rather interesting for this short little chain. --k_d3 03:28, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

But aren't the Hammer already worshipping Rag? Why do they all of sudden want to have him dead? From what I understand is their epic battle will bring about the destruction of the world, am I right?  IconSmall HighElf Male.gif Mr.X8 Talk Contribs 03:39, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

All they worship is annihilation. Their fealty to the elementals is just a means to that end.--k_d3 03:43, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Do not you mean the Earthen Ring?--SWM2448 03:47, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah. Had the wrong non-CC faction on my mind. --k_d3 03:48, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Battle?

Ragnaros is the Lord of the Fire Elementals, Neptulon is the Lord of the Water elementals. So what makes the Twilight Hammer believe that Ahune a servant of Neptulon, would have a chance againts an equel of Neptulon?--Sairez

For the same reason that forty random heroes stand a chance against one of the Elemental Lieutenants: he was weakened considerably when he was summoned back into Azeroth and has not yet regained his full strength. A better question would be why they're summoning Ahune in Outland to do battle with Ragnaros on Azeroth. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 11:56, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
In SP Heroic there was already Skarthiss, who worships Neptulon. And there's the Twilight Camp on the Dark Portal... I guess they just didn't think much about it --Hurax (talk) 19:59, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Heroic?

My bet is he is the same in Heroic and Normal... 73+ in normal too, damage in heroic and HP of the adds was the same... but got wiped on adding the trashmob goup, their aggro range is greater... and lootable seems identic too (scythe in normal) --Hurax (talk) 20:20, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

The heroic adds have more HP. The normal mode ones would die to a single Seed of Corruption for me, but the heroic ones took two (unless its crit). The normal mode adds appear to have about 1000 hp, the heroic ones about 2000. Aiiane (talk) 08:30, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Been tidying up the article as I've killed him numerous times on normal mode now, and have yet to see a Frostbolt attack, can someone confirm that it exists, and if it does, it's on heroic mode? It's clear the HP would be different for normal and heroic mode, could someone create the "general" section and add the HP values? Cheers, Lukian (talk) 18:01, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Clean Up

I am extremely tired, but I added the correct way to heal it as a holy priest, done it about 13 times today and over half of those I did as decribed and by recound took about 8% damage overall, compared to 19% when I first walked in with only this page as a guide. Its a mess, badly needs cleaning up, but leaving that to someone else. Information is correct, just messy. Cvt (talk)

The problem is getting a guide that covers both well geared (not really needed) and poorly geared players (and both for normal/heroic). --Notmyhandle (talk) 09:12, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Removed: "Try to stay on the left side of the path during the fight. Fighting on the right side can turn an unlucky ice spike punt into the water into a team wipe." I was thrown off the edge, and instantly teleported back to land, so this isn't an issue, or a point to note. Lukian (talk) 09:40, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Is this true in every situation where a player falls in the water? I know for certain the Ahunite Frostwind have an ability to summon you from far away and bring you closer, but my healer was punted into the water and was not teleported/summoned whatsoever. Our healer swam backwards to the slope and ran back up to us. This has only happened once to me so far, anyone else have this issue? I'd still like to see the previously removed quote remain.
Ok, readding your quote, sorry about that, I didn't even think I could have been lucky enough as the MT to be saved by an add! Lukian (talk) 18:27, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Indeed, it is quite easy to end up in the water. --Notmyhandle (talk) 03:21, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

enchanting formula

I've heard mixed comments about the droprate of the enchanting formula; some rumors say that it's a guaranteed drop in heroic. Can anyone give more firm information regarding this, preferably from personal experience? Aiiane (talk) 08:18, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

I've completed it once on heroic and the enchant dropped. Asking my guild, the concensus seems to be 100%, but it's rather hard to state at this point, as the boss has only been available for two days. Lukian (talk) 09:42, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Finally got the group comp I wanted today, and we killed him easily... got the formula, so did 2-3 other guild groups. I removed the "is rumored", since it appears fairly certain that it's a 100% drop on heroic. Aiiane (talk) 07:28, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Ragnaros is dead!

Isn't Ragnaros already Lore-deceased? I mean... I killed Ragnaros in Molten Core over 2 years ago, didn't I? how can he be alive?
Is the hammer not informed about this?Tongueout.gif --User:GorundThis is Gorund!User_talk:GorundTalk to me:DSpecial:Contributions/GorundMy contributions.Gorund bear1.jpgRoar! 12:45, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Just because you killed him two years ago doesn't mean that he's been lore-deceased for two years. Just look at Onyxia, who's alive and well in the WoW comic that, canonically, takes place during BC. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 05:32, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Its kinda hard to actually kill Elementals, let alone Eternals. Usually just destroying them severs whatever is linking them to Azeroth, and banishes them back to their own realm.Baggins And Zeratul, talk about mixed up info with the comic and TBC manual kinda giving alternate information ;).(talk) 05:33, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
True, but if Ragnaros was banished back to the Abyssal Plane there wouldn't be much point in summoning Ahune to fight him on Azeroth. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 06:56, 2 July 2008 (UTC)::

Abyssal Plane? Why would Ragnaros be banished to the Twisting Nether, he was part of the Elemental Plane, the Firelands specifically (certainly not the Abyssal Maw, waterland)? I agree that he hasn't fallen yet, like you said there wouldn't be a point for Ahune to to fight him. Although its kinda strange to summon him in Outland to fight him on Azeroth. :p...Baggins (talk) 06:28, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Level 80 Loot

All the cloaks seem to have been updated to level 80 for 2010. Should we replace old cloaks or move the articles do a different location to avoid confusion? All the level 80 cloaks have the same names too. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zivhayr (talk · contr).

It seems like the old cloaks has been renamed to "(original)", but why not "(level 70)"? What will you call it in the next expansion? To be honest "(level 70)" would create less confusion. --g0urra[T҂C] 08:49, June 22, 2010 (UTC)
Agreed for level 70 instead of original.

Immune to Frost school?

Got caught out on my DK on the first day. Should there be a note that the mobs in this encounter are all Frost immune? I haven't checked with mages and their Frost spells but it's likely to be the same. It's only important if the DK is Frost and a tank and only for this year as rumours and press releases have it that Frost is no longer a tanking tree in Cataclysm. Unholy performs fine, particularly with a specced out DnD and Blood's Heartstrike would do even better at adds control.

I also noticed that the ones that look like air elementals are also resistant to Frost. I haven't had a chance to shoot one with Nature spells to check if they were immune to that school like you would expect, though.Rei-gouki (talk) 08:24, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

Seconded; it's a pain in the neck to tank this, at least with my tank gear (a reliance on Icy Touch to activate my sigil's effect, lol). DPS isn't much better, but with Unholy it's a bit easier. --Joshmaul (talk) 08:40, July 1, 2010 (UTC)
