Svala Sorrowgrave was a vrykul who had been turned into a Val'kyr by the Lich King. As uninvited guests entered her room, an image of the Lich King congratulated her for having done a great service, for she was the one who discovered the Alliance and Horde's plans to invade Utgarde, allowing them to prepare. She is the first boss of Utgarde Pinnacle.
Adventure Guide
Svala distinguished herself as Ingvar the Plunderer's lieutenant, leading perilous scouting missions in Horde and Alliance outposts. It was she who discovered the enemy's plans to invade Utgarde, giving the Lich King time to prepare. For her service, he has transformed her into a val'kyr, revered warrior maiden of the Scourge.
Abilities
Ritual Preparation — Prepares the target for sacrifice to the Lich King.
Sinister Strike — Svala Sorrowgrave strikes a player, inflicting Physical damage.
Call Flames — Svala Sorrowgrave summons flames from the nearby braziers that inflict Fire damage to a random player.
Ritual of the Sword — Svala Sorrowgrave summons a random player to her altar and begins to sacrifice them. While being sacrificed, three Ritual Channelers cast Paralyze on the player, stunning them until the channelers are killed.
Ritual Strike — After 25 seconds, Svala's sword falls to the altar and inflits Shadow damage to all players within 0 yards. In addition, any player hit by the sword becomes corrupted, causing Shadow damage every second for 8 sec.
Paralyze — Ritual Channelers focus on the player that Svala is sacrificing, stunning them for as long as the Ritual Channeler is alive.
Shadows in the Dark — Ritual Channelers are surrounded with Shadows that have 100% chance of enveloping attackers, inflicting Shadow damage every 3 sec for 21 sec. This effect stacks.
Strategies
Normal - This fight is quite easy. Sorrowgrave's damage is low, and the adds have low health.
Every 20 seconds or so she will sacrifice a party member. She rises to the ceiling and teleports the targeted member to the altar. Three adds appear and channel a spell holding the party member in place.
You have approximately 8 seconds to kill all the adds before the sword reaches the altar and kills the sacrifice target. 
[Ice Block] can be used to avoid the sacrifice, it is unknown whether other abilities also work. These abilities do not remove the sacrifice on Heroic Mode.
Heroic - The adds have much more health and apply a dot to any player who casts a direct damage spell on them. Having substantial AOE damage is useful for killing the adds in time.
