Sludge Guards are the guard NPCs found in the Sludge Fields of Hillsbrad Foothills, wearing protective gear in order to prevent them from becoming infected while combating the mindless zombies there.
A number of them have been turned into Infected Sludge Guards in the course of their duties. They appear to be loyal to the treacherous Warden Stillwater and will turn hostile when the player confronts him at the behest of Master Apothecary Lydon.
During the Legion invasions, they could be found cornered by demons or controlled by Subjugator Val'rek. Saving them would improve the score of defense against the Legion.
