Sludge Fen
The Sludge Fen[58, 19.4] (or the Sludge Fens)[1] is an oil field found on the northeast corner of the Northern Barrens. It is close to a few other Venture Co. properties; the Venture Co. Tower can be found north of it, a Venture Co. research facility to the west, and the Boulder Lode Mine in the north-east.
History
The Sludge Fen was once a pool of crystal-blue waters, which the Venture Co. turned into a mire of industrial byproducts and waste after building an oil rig on top of it.[2] Supervisor Lugwizzle is the goblin in charge of this operation.
Sputtervalve, a Tinkers' Union member in Ratchet who had been put in charge of the Union's shredder development, had sent another goblin named Wizzlecrank, to commandeer one of the Venture Co. shredders in the Sludge Fen and bring it to Ratchet. The Venture Company's new shredders were better than his latest, and with pressure from Director Riddlevox to produce results, he had decided to steal their technology instead.[3] However, Wizzlecrank had jumped into a shredder without getting the key to make it move.[4] So he had gotten stuck and had to get rescued by adventurers who stole the key from the supervisor and then escorted Wizzlecrank and the shredder back to Ratchet while Venture Co. employees tried to stop them.[5]
Wenikee Boltbucket sent adventurers here to collect nugget slugs from employee tool buckets in order to try and fix a samophlange.[6]
During the Elemental Unrest before the Cataclysm, the Sludge Fen was attacked by fire elementals.
Sputervalve had adventurers recover the Silver Bullet X-831 schematics from Venture Co. employees there, which he claimed had been stolen by them.[7]
A Sludge Beast was discovered in the Sludge Fen after adventurers followed tracks it had left behind all the way from Nozzlepot's Outpost.[8][9]
During the Legion Invasions, the area was attacked by Burning Legion troops. However, the goblins managed to mount a defense.

The Sludge Fields is found in the Barrens' northern hills, and the Venture Company has an operation there. They have built a derrick over what appears to be a large tar pit, and the operation is led by a goblin known as Supervisor Lugwizzle.[10]

- Oil Covered Fishes can be fished from Sludge Fen's water.
- Horde druids are sent here as part of the trial to acquire their
[Aquatic Form], where they can recover a 
[Half Pendant of Aquatic Agility] from a lockbox located in the water.[11] - An
[Arcanic Systems Manual] can be found by mages in the oil rig control room and turned in to Garion Wendell or Owen Thadd.[12] - Warlocks can acquire the
[Rune of Shadowbolts] in the Sludge Fen by channeling 
[Drain Soul] on Supervisor Lugwizzle to receive a 
[Soul of Greed] and then using it at the Hungry Idol south of the oil platform to receive the rune.
