Scarlet Rubies can be obtained by [Prospecting] the 3 Northrend ores:  [Cobalt Ore],  [Saronite Ore], and  [Titanium Ore].

They can also be mined from any Northrend mining deposit, including: Pure Saronite Deposits, Titanium Veins, Rich Cobalt Deposits, Rich Saronite Deposits, Cobalt Deposits, and Saronite Deposits.

Finally, they can be mined from the corpses of a few bosses and trash mobs in Wrath of the Lich King content, including Krystallus in Halls of Stone, Forge Constructs in Ulduar, and Ormorok the Tree-Shaper in The Nexus.
