Raw gem

Raw gems are precious stone items often usable as a crafting reagent for professions. Unlike cut gems, these must be crafted into another item to gain any sort of bonus. The majority of uncut gems are found via mining or [Prospecting]. In addition, most can be found in chests and lockboxes, and have a small chance of dropping from random mobs. Some can also be mined from the corpses of certain giants and elementals.
