Rook Stonetoe was a pandaren found in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, and a member of the Golden Lotus. He was of "monstrous" size, with tree-trunk-sized arms and a coat that was pure white apart from a brown topknot and beard.[1] Described as "loyal to a fault... a gentle friend, but also a ferocious enemy",[2] Rook was known to fight with a giant, spike-adorned mace, and was a pandaren of few words.

Rook was killed in the destruction of the vale caused by Garrosh Hellscream. Following his death, he can be encountered in the Siege of Orgrimmar raid as one of The Fallen Protectors.

Along with Mokimo the Strong and Weng the Merciful, Rook is sent by the Golden Lotus to find Sunwalker Dezco as he attempts to leave the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, in order to protect him from the encroaching Shao-Tien mogu. After encountering Dezco traveling with a group of refugees, Rook and the party help to feed and tend to the group as they spend the night between villages. While keeping watch that night, Rook spots shapes moving in the darkness, and alerts the others. The shapes turn out to be quilen, and Rook and the others leap to the defense of the group. When the quilen block the group's escape, Rook uses his strength to hurl a cart into the creatures, scattering them and allowing the group to drive forward. Rook continues to defend the group as they make their retreat, attacking quilen with his mace and drawing the creatures' attacks.

Once the quilen are slain and the refugees safe, Rook goes to carry word to Mokimo, who had left the group in pursuit of Dezco's kidnapped son Redhorn. When he learns that Dezco's other child Cloudhoof has died, Rook sits down and sobs for a long time, despite barely having met the infants.
